SnapIT is the first generation of the Racktime system, introduced in 2007. The adapter features four pins on the underside that click into corresponding holes in the system bridges of the carrier. Pressing a button releases the connection – tool-free and in seconds. From model year 2012, the adapter became width-adjustable, allowing it to be used on narrow and wide carrier platforms. Maximum load is up to 12 kg. Products without "2.0" in the name (such as the BaskIT basket) belong to the first generation. Area of use: city and trekking bikes with older or more affordable Racktime carriers. Advantages: simple operation, secure locking, proven technology for over 15 years.
SnapIT 2.0 is the further development and current standard from Racktime. Instead of four pins, the adapter has two U-shaped profiles that grip around two inconspicuous cylinders under the system bridges. This eliminates the need for width adjustment – the adapter fits universally on all platform widths. The system bridges are so flat that the carrier looks almost like a normal rack. The adapter is manufactured at Hebie in Bielefeld and is available with or without clamping feet as well as with an integrated lock. Maximum load remains 12 kg. Products with "2.0" in the name (such as Lightit Tour 2.0 or BaskIT 2.0) identify the new generation. Area of use: current Racktime carriers on city, trekking and touring bikes. Advantages: universal fit, discreet design, optional theft protection, improved ease of use.
