Racktime is a brand of tubus carrier systems GmbH based in Münster. Tubus itself was founded in 1988 and established itself as a pioneer of handcrafted steel-tube carriers in the high-end touring segment. In the mid-2000s, the company decided to enter the aluminium-based market without diluting the steel-focused Tubus image. The solution: in 2005, Racktime GmbH was founded as an independent subsidiary. The name combines the English word "Rack" with "time" – signalling that it was time for a new generation of carriers. In 2007, Racktime presented its first system-relevant product: the SnapIT adapter, developed together with Rixen & Kaul, which connects bags and baskets to the aluminium carrier with a click – a milestone for quick, tool-free attachment.
Today, Racktime is part of the HEBIE GROUP, which also includes Hebie GmbH & Co. KG from Bielefeld. The company headquarters remain in Münster, where the development and design team continuously works on new carrier solutions. Over 160 bicycle manufacturers worldwide equip their models with Racktime carriers as standard – well over a million system carriers are installed annually. The products convince with an excellent price-performance ratio, a well-thought-out range and proven German manufacturing quality.
Racktime's core product is the rear system carrier made of aluminium, which features low weight, high load capacity and the SnapIT or SnapIT 2.0 system rail. Using the adapter plate, bags, baskets and trunk bags can be clicked on and off in seconds. Racktime offers carriers for different applications: from lightweight city carriers to robust touring models. Matching bags and baskets that harmonise seamlessly with the system complete the range. Every carrier is tested according to ISO 11243:2023 and undergoes extensive testing before market launch.
