The company CloseTheGap was founded in the Netherlands in 2015. Behind the company CloseTheGap is former competitive cyclist and later editor of the Dutch cycling magazine "Fiets," Mathijs Wagenaar. His passion for cycling and his experience in industrial design laid the foundation for the development of innovative cycling accessories.
The name of the company CloseTheGap originated from the idea of closing the gap between safety, functionality, and attractive design. The mission of CloseTheGap – Closing the Gap Between Safety, Functionality, and Design – was to create products that cyclists genuinely enjoy using while simultaneously enhancing the riding experience. The product range includes GPS and cycling computer mounts, integrated bell systems such as the HideMyBell series, mounts for bicycle lights and action cameras, as well as additional accessories that combine safety, aerodynamics, and functionality.

From a small idea for an integrated bell, the company grew quickly and now supplies WorldTour teams such as Visma Lease a Bike and Picnic PostNL. Development and production remain in the Netherlands.
The first product was the HideMyBell, a bell discreetly integrated into a computer mount, offering sporty riders a stylish alternative to conventional bells. Gradually, further mounts such as the raceday4 evo series and the regular3 pro model were added. The range expanded to include the CoverMyBack mudguard adapter, the ergonomic ErgoMyRide grips and the HideMyWaste waste container. Various accessories and spare parts complete the lineup.
CloseTheGap products are sold worldwide through bicycle retailers, online shops and the company's own website. The brand is available in more than thirty countries across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. The exact number of sales outlets amounts to several hundred specialist dealers plus numerous online platforms.
For mounts, different versions are available for various cockpit types, such as Canyon, Specialized or standard handlebars. The products differ in material (carbon or aluminium), integration complexity and compatibility with different GPS devices and handlebar shapes. Numerous colour options and orientations (left-hand or right-hand) are also offered.
