Emilia is a fully equipped e-bike with all the advantages of an all-rounder. The MAHLE X35 motor's 40 Nm torque ensures excellent riding dynamics, and the carbon toothed belt enables up to four times the mileage of a chain. No grease or oil means no dirt on your clothes. Top design: the battery is hidden in the down tube, with just a button on the top tube for control.
Another highlight is the frame-mounted front rack with a clever tension strap system. Even larger loads can be transported safely without affecting handling. The LightSKIN Ultra-Mini-Light U2E, the world's smallest StVZO bicycle front light, integrated into the aluminum profile mudguard, ensures optimum visibility at night.
The frame is made of triple-butted AL6061-T6 aluminium, formed into an aero tube set with a forged Pinion bridge, forged dropouts including the sliding tensioner system and the belt port. Smoothed welds, fully internal cable routing and bolt-on points for the frame-mounted rack keep the bike technically up to date and preserve the reduced aesthetic. The hydroformed aluminium fork with tapered head tube, internal cable routing, post mount brake mount and 15 mm through-axle keeps pace. Thanks to the step-through frame with its low entry height, the Emilia can be moved easily and safely even in stop-and-go traffic.
Shifting is handled by a Pinion C-Line gear unit with six gears, running sequentially in the bottom bracket and shifting even while standing still. A spread of 295 percent is more than sufficient in urban terrain to master bridges, ramps or the incline back home with authority. Because the gearbox sits precisely where pedalling power arises anyway, the rear wheel stays calm and the bearings are spared. A carbon Gates toothed belt replaces the chain and runs grease-free and near-silent with three to four times the service life. At every traffic light and every city hill, this combination pays off immediately.
The lighting system consists of the LightSKIN Ultra-Mini-Light U2E at the front and the ILU jr. at the rear. Both are StVZO-approved and are powered from the 250 Wh battery, so neither a hub dynamo nor a charging cable is needed. The 150 lumens of the front light – the smallest StVZO bicycle lamp in the world – disappear into the Curana Apollo mudguard made of aluminium profile, while the rear light only attracts attention behind the mudguard skirt on a second glance. Together with the wide WTB Horizon tyres on 27.5-inch rims and the swept-back CITY handlebar, every cobblestone road becomes a pleasant shortcut.
The centrepiece of everyday practicality is the frame-mounted aluminium front rack. Because it attaches to the frame rather than the fork, the handling remains precise and direct even under load. The VarioStrap tensioning system adapts to luggage pieces of any shape and size and is prepared for Ortlieb Rack-Lock – which also qualifies the Emilia for longer day trips and spontaneous bikepacking tours. Added to this are Curana Apollo mudguards, a mounting option for the kickstand, holders for bottle and lock as well as space for a frame lock. The permitted total weight of 130 kg leaves room for shopping and luggage, while the 17.6 kg empty weight remains easy to transport for a fully equipped e-bike in this class.
Mahle ebikemotion provides the propulsion with a hub drive motor in the rear wheel, 250 watts of power, 40 Nm of torque and support up to 25 km/h. The Intube battery with around 250 Wh sits invisibly in the down tube and is controlled via the iWoc ONE with Bluetooth and ANT+ or through an app. Taken together, this is a bike that rides very quietly and powerfully with motor and, thanks to its light frame, 27.5-inch wheels and upright handlebar, remains comfortable to ride without.
“Emilia” designates the female model and marks the step-through frame with low entry – the counterpart to “Emil” with diamond frame. “VI” is the Roman six and stands for the six gears of the Pinion C-Line gearbox; the IX variant comes with nine gears. “X35” names the generation of the electric drive: Mahle ebikemotion X35 Hub Drive with 250 watts and 40 Newton metres, while the successor generation X20 works with 55 Newton metres. “S (45cm)” marks the frame size and “salbeigrün” the colour. Together, this yields the fully equipped six-speed edition of the electrified all-rounder series with step-through frame.
The EMILIA VI X35 is the lightest variant of the range – and that is precisely where its strength lies. Compared to the IX gearbox with nine gears and a spread of 568 percent, the six-speed version limits itself to 295 percent. The smaller gearbox saves material and weight: 17.6 kg versus 17.9 kg for the nine-speed edition, making the bike that much easier to handle when carrying, loading or moving it inside the home. Anyone who barely notices the difference in the city but wants the lightest fully equipped e-bike in the range is right here.
Compared to the X20 generation, drive output remains at 40 Newton metres; the specification rides on WTB Horizon 47 mm tyres on Alexrims DP23 rims and is carried by a Schindelhauer saddle, whereas the X20 models rely on 50 mm Continental Contact Urban, Kinlin TL23R rims and a Selle Royal Essenza saddle. In terms of colour, the generation is clearly separated: sage green and mineral grey define the X35 versions, while the X20 models are available in mineral grey, midnight green and lavender blue.
The VI version is aimed at everyone who rides predominantly asphalted routes in flat to gently hilly terrain and is looking for a durable commuter of high equipment quality. The frame-mounted front rack, the mudguards and the StVZO lighting make the bike immediately fit for purpose, six gears are more than enough for typical urban topography, and the 250 Wh battery provides sufficient reserve in stop-and-go traffic to get home without recharging.
Within the range there is a male counterpart: Emil, the same bike with a diamond frame, which is built in sizes S, M and L for everyone who prefers a sportier frame with identical technology. Beyond the electrified all-rounders, the portfolio is considerably broader: Gustav and Greta form classic city bikes with Nexus hub gears, Arthur and Antonia are minimalist e-bikes with Mahle drive, Ludwig and Lotte are high-quality all-rounders with Alfine gear, Wilhelm is the gravel bike for terrain and tour, Siegfried and Hektor are two purist singlespeed models, Cato is the track bike and Neo is the compact 20-inch folding bike. Within this spectrum, the EMILIA VI X35 is the entry into the electric premium class: fully equipped, pleasingly light and designed for what is actually needed in everyday life.
