Emil is a fully equipped e-bike with all the advantages of an all-rounder. The MAHLE X35 motor's 40 Nm torque ensures excellent riding dynamics, and the carbon toothed belt enables up to four times the mileage of a chain. No grease or oil means no dirt on your clothes. Top design: the battery is hidden in the down tube, with just a button on the top tube for control.
Another highlight is the frame-mounted front rack with a clever tension strap system. Even larger loads can be transported safely without affecting handling. The LightSKIN Ultra-Mini-Light U2E, the world's smallest StVZO bicycle front light, integrated into the aluminum profile mudguard, ensures optimum visibility at night.
The frame is made of triple-butted AL6061-T6 aluminium, formed into an aero tube set and equipped with a forged Pinion bridge, forged dropouts including sliding tensioner system and Schindelhauer belt port. Smooth welds, internal cable routing and bolt-on points for the permanently mounted front rack create an uncluttered look. A longer head tube and the shorter Satori Stealth aluminium stem add up to a comfortable, upright seating position – cobblestones and park paths become a favourite shortcut from here. The hydroformed aluminium fork with tapered head tube, internal cable routing, post mount brake mount and 15 mm through-axle rounds off the front end, while the Acros ICR 1.5-inch headset keeps steering direct and precise.
The Pinion C-Line gear unit with six gears works sequentially in the bottom bracket and shifts precisely both at standstill and while riding – developed by former Porsche engineers. A spread of 295 percent is more than sufficient for urban riding and the gradients usually encountered. Because the gearbox sits exactly where pedalling power arises, it works almost loss-free and keeps the rear wheel calm. Drive force is transmitted by a Gates Carbon Drive CDX toothed belt with 39 teeth at the front and a 34/28-tooth sprocket at the rear, which with its 118 and 115 teeth lasts three to four times as long as a chain – at the same efficiency, with less maintenance and a quieter run. Pinion bottom bracket, Pinion crankset and VP plastic pedals with grip tape and industrial bearings complete the drivetrain.
Visibility is provided by the LightSKIN Ultra-Mini-Light U2E at the front and the ILU jr. at the rear, both StVZO-approved and powered directly from the around 250 Wh Intube battery. With 150 lumens, the front light is the smallest StVZO-approved bicycle light in the world and is integrated almost invisibly into the Curana Apollo mudguard made of aluminium profile – just like the rear light in the mudguard skirt. Control runs through a single button on the top tube, with the Mahle app additionally available. Together with the 47 mm WTB Horizon tyres on 27.5-inch Alexrims DP23 rims with reflective strip, this results in a calm, comfortable ride with reliable visibility in every weather and at every time of day.
The frame-mounted aluminium front rack is the centrepiece of everyday practicality. Because it attaches to the frame, handling stays precise and direct even with heavy and bulky loads. The VarioStrap tensioning system holds luggage pieces of any shape securely, and the mount is prepared for Ortlieb Rack-Lock – ideal for weekend trips, multi-day tours and spontaneous bikepacking adventures. Added to this are the Curana Apollo mudguards, the option of a kickstand, holders for bottle and lock as well as the possibility of fitting a frame lock. The total weight rating of 130 kg leaves plenty of room for shopping and luggage.
Mahle ebikemotion provides the propulsion as a hub drive M1 integrated inconspicuously into the rear wheel hub with 250 watts and 40 Nm of torque, supporting up to 25 km/h. The Intube battery sits invisibly in the down tube and provides around 250 Wh of energy. Hydraulic Shimano MT200 disc brakes with 160 mm rotors, the Schindelhauer CITY handlebar, Schindelhauer saddle, grips and Schindelhauer seatpost form a coherent package of comfort, control and reduced design.
“Emil” is the male model name and, with its diamond frame, points to the classic frame version of the range – the female counterpart “Emilia” carries the low-step trapezoid frame. “VI” is the Roman six and stands for the six gears of the Pinion C-Line gear unit; the nine-speed version is correspondingly called IX. “X35” names the generation of the electric drive from Mahle ebikemotion with 250 watts and 40 Newton metres, while the successor generation X20 runs with 55 Newton metres. “S (45cm)” refers to the frame size and “mineralgrau” to the colour. Taken together, this yields the fully equipped six-speed edition of the electrified all-rounder in the smaller frame size – also available in L (55cm).
The EMIL VI X35 shares technology, equipment and drive output completely with the EMILIA VI X35 and differs only in the frame version: the diamond frame with top tube appeals to everyone who prefers a sportier build with identical technology, while the EMILIA places the low step-through at the centre. Compared to the nine-speed IX gearbox with a spread of 568 percent, the six-speed model stays at 295 percent and 17.6 kg – against 17.9 kg for the nine-speed version. Compared to the X20 generation, X35 specification means 40 instead of 55 Newton metres, in return for Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes and 47 mm WTB Horizon tyres on Alexrims DP23 rims, whereas the X20 models rely on 50 mm Continental Contact Urban, Kinlin TL23R rims and a Selle Royal Essenza saddle. In terms of colour, the generation is clearly separated: mineral grey and sage green define the X35 versions, while the X20 models are available in mineral grey, midnight green and lavender blue.
The EMIL VI is aimed at everyone who rides through the city and along asphalted roads and is looking for a durable commuter with full equipment. Six gears, hydraulic disc brakes, mudguards and StVZO lighting make the bike fit for everyday use straight away, and the 250 Wh are enough for the complete commute in stop-and-go traffic. Thanks to the frame geometry with longer head tube and shorter stem, the seating position is upright and relaxed, so even higher mileages come easily.
Within the range, Emilia with trapezoid frame is the female counterpart in sizes S, M and L; beyond that, the Schindelhauer programme includes Gustav and Greta as classic city bikes with Nexus hub gears, Arthur and Antonia as minimalist e-bikes with Mahle drive, Ludwig and Lotte as high-quality all-rounders with Alfine gear, Wilhelm as the gravel bike for terrain and tour, Siegfried and Hektor as two purist singlespeed models, Cato as the track bike and Neo as the compact 20-inch folding bike. Within this programme, the EMIL VI is the all-rounder for everyone who wants to ride an honest diamond frame with full electric equipment.
