A classic Schindelhauer bike with carbon tires—but motorized with Mahle X35: the e-bike for cyclists who want to get through city traffic relaxed with an extra boost. It also has everything you need for city traffic, such as the lighting system integrated into the handlebars and seat post and hydraulic disc brakes.
Schindelhauer is a small Berlin-based manufacturer and is in high demand. Bikes that are available online usually only come in one size. That's why we would advise you to act fast. If a particular bike is out of stock, just ask us when it will be available again.

Enable Youtube videosColour is not decoration here but part of the effect: the deep garnet red gives a frame presence that would otherwise remain so unobtrusive. It is constructed from an aero-shaped AL6061-T6 tubeset, triple butted, meaning thick at the welds, medium in the transition zones and slim in the middle of the tube – a design that concentrates stiffness where loads act and saves weight where none is needed. A forged bottom bracket shell and forged dropouts form the load-bearing elements, the sliding dropout system adjusts belt tension, and the belt port allows the drive to be changed without dismantling the bike. Integrated seat clamp, smoothed welds and the hydroformed tapered aluminium fork with internal cable routing, post mount mount and 15 mm through-axle hold the shape together; an integrated Tange Seiki headset with a taper from 1 1/8 to 1.5 inches guides it.
A Gates Carbon Drive CDX with 60 teeth at the front and 22 at the rear on a 118T toothed belt handles transmission. This ratio is deliberately matched to a single gear ratio: where other models of this range fit a gear unit into the bottom bracket, a fixed ratio works here that turns every pedal stroke immediately and without loss into forward motion. A Shimano press-fit bottom bracket and an Alfine Hollowtech II crankset form the bearing, while CNC-machined aluminium urban pedals provide a secure entry. The carbon toothed belt stays quiet, free of rust and free of lubricants – a drive that still works after weeks of standing still, without any preparation.
The Mahle ebikemotion Hub Drive M1 is responsible for propulsion, sitting in the rear hub, acting directly on the wheel and mobilising 250 W with around 40 Nm up to 25 km/h. The Intube battery of about 250 Wh rests in the down tube; depending on the assistance level roughly 50 to 80 km are possible, charging takes about three hours, and the battery can be removed for servicing. Operation runs through the iWoc ONE with a button on the top tube and an LED colour scale for charge level, complemented by the app for iOS and Android, which delivers speed, weather data and GPS navigation. A Mahle range extender battery can be connected to the seat tube mounting points, extending range for longer day stages.
The high-flange front hub with disc mount, eyeleted Alexrims CXD26 rims and Sapim Race spokes laced 3-cross and 2-cross give the wheel stiffness and a high service life; Formula CURA hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors deliver predictable deceleration in rain and on wet asphalt. Continental GP Urban Classic tyres in 35-622 roll quietly over city surfaces, the Brooks Swift saddle offers a flat, classic seat position, and Schindelhauer ergo leather grips plus the Satori Stealth aluminium stem complete the package. Rear rack mounting, mudguard mounts and kickstand mounts are provided for everyday use, while seat tube attachment points take bottle cage, lock holder or the range extender. At 13.4 kg in size M and a system weight of 130 kg, the bike stays as nimble as its drivetrain – and in garnet red as unmistakable as its name.
The name of this range consists of three parts that together describe the concept. “ARTHUR” is the series designation; the internal name is the avant-gardist and describes precisely this claim: electrically assisted, yet visually a bicycle you would also show anyone with the battery removed. “X35” names the drive generation used from manufacturer Mahle, namely Hub Drive M1 and Intube battery. Unlike on the geared models, a Roman numeral is deliberately absent from the name, because the tag X35 is the meaningful identifier here and no separate letter sequence had to be reserved for the gear count. “Garnet red” follows as the colour designation and is listed separately in dealer naming; the same equipment is also available in graphite black. The successor version carries the suffix SSP, which refers to the single-speed principle.
Three points differentiate within this range: the gearing, the generation of the electric drive and the tyre setup. Compared with the VI and IX editions featuring a Pinion C-Line gear unit with six or nine gears, this bike works with a single gear and a Shimano Alfine crankset. The practical difference lies in weight: without the gear hub, inner bearing and crankset of the Pinion design, the bike at 13.4 kg becomes the lightest build of the range. Compared with the X20 versions it stays with the X35 generation at around 40 Nm, while the successor generation adds more torque, selectable assistance levels and a control unit in the top tube. Against the ARTHUR Cruiser, which relies on 47er tyres, a riser handlebar and a front basket for relaxed cruising, this configuration works with 35 mm tyres on 28 inches, a sporty-comfort cockpit and a lower, straighter seat position. In colour the range is broadly spread: graphite black and garnet red for this singlespeed, cream white and midnight blue for the geared versions.
Its field of use is the classic commuter and city rider: short distances, flat routes, familiar paths. A bike with a single gear and barely thirteen kilograms can be carried effortlessly into cellar, lift and train, parks narrowly at traffic lights and demands little power when pulling away. Electric support up to 25 km/h at the same time compensates what a purely human-powered bike costs on longer gradients – and the hub motor acts directly on the wheel, so the rider hardly notices it. Above all at junctions, during shifts under load and in stop-and-go traffic, the bike rides calmly and linearly, without the distraction of gear noise or cable maintenance. Set against the Emil and Emilia family, which combine gear unit and upright position with a comfort-focused character, the ARTHUR X35 appears more reduced and more direct.
A female counterpart exists as well: the ANTONIA range carries the same VI and IX pairings of Pinion gear unit and Mahle drive, yet is built as a step-through with a lowered top tube and an additional XS frame. Anyone preferring an upright posture therefore chooses between two frame silhouettes – a diamond frame for a sporty-classic seat and a lowered entry for relaxed arrival – with identical technology at whichever level of specification is chosen.
