Antonia – The Avant-Gardist – Fully integrated electric drive with 55 Nm, manual transmission from the automotive industry, and carbon fiber timing belt: With Antonia, you can experience the most advanced electrification of the classic Schindelhauer bicycle. With the Gates Carbon Drive belt, you can cover up to four times as many kilometers as with a chain, and it's maintenance-free and doesn't require oiling or greasing, so your pants stay clean.

With Antonia, you not only radiate classic elegance – you feel it too. Electric assistance in several stages, your muscle power and a high-end transmission interact perfectly with each other. Perfect design; the battery is invisibly placed in the down tube and there is only one button on the top tube for control.

Schindelhauer ANTONIA VI X20

Antonia and Arthur - VI: 6-speed Pinion - X20 motor

"Antonia", like all Schindelhauer model names, is a classic first name – in this case the feminine form of "Antonius" and the step-through sister of the "Arthur". While the Arthur features a diamond frame, the Antonia stands for the low-entry trapez frame with a swept top tube that makes getting on and off easier. The Roman numeral "VI" stands for the number 6 and indicates the number of gears of the Pinion C-Line gearbox – a compact gear unit developed by former Porsche engineers, located directly in the bottom bracket. The suffix "X20" denotes the Mahle drive system: a rear hub motor with 250 W nominal output and 55 Nm of torque, paired with an in-tube battery integrated into the down tube with a 250 Wh capacity. The full model name thus consists of the frame variant (Antonia = step-through), the gear count (VI = 6-speed Pinion) and the motorisation (X20 = Mahle X20).

VI X20 within the Antonia series

Within the Antonia range, the VI X20 occupies the middle position between the base model and the nine-speed variant. Together with its diamond-frame counterpart Arthur, Schindelhauer offers identical technology in two frame styles. The ANTONIA IX X20 differs through its nine-speed Pinion gearbox and caters to riders who require an even finer gear range for hilly terrain. The ANTONIA IX X35, on the other hand, uses the older Mahle X35 system combined with the nine-speed Pinion. Price-wise, the ANTONIA VI X20 sits below the IX X20 version and noticeably below the IX X35, but above Schindelhauer's non-motorised models. For comparison, the identical technology in a diamond frame (ARTHUR VI X20) costs the same – the difference lies solely in the frame geometry.

ANTONIA VI X20 - commuting, urban and purist

The ANTONIA VI X20 was designed for urban daily use: the low step-through and the 15.9 kg weight make it a top choice for commuters who frequently mount and dismount. The quiet Gates Carbon belt requires no lubrication and is low-maintenance; the Pinion gearbox allows shifting while stationary and at any speed. The LightSKIN lighting is invisibly integrated into the handlebar and seatpost while still being StVZO-compliant. Unlike the diamond-frame model Arthur, the Antonia's step-through design is particularly suitable for riders who prioritise easy mounting and dismounting over the sporty look of a diamond frame. In contrast to the EMIL VI X20, which comes with a more complete everyday equipment package including a luggage rack, the Antonia focuses on purist reduction – a rack can be fitted optionally but is not included as standard. The emphasis is on elegant design, minimal maintenance and unobtrusive e-assistance that makes the bike barely distinguishable from a conventional bicycle.
