Antonia – The Avant-Gardist – Fully integrated electric drive with 55 Nm, manual transmission from the automotive industry, and carbon fiber timing belt: With Antonia, you can experience the most advanced electrification of the classic Schindelhauer bicycle. With the Gates Carbon Drive belt, you can cover up to four times as many kilometers as with a chain, and it's maintenance-free and doesn't require oiling or greasing, so your pants stay clean.
With Antonia, you not only radiate classic elegance – you feel it too. Electric assistance in several stages, your muscle power and a high-end transmission interact perfectly with each other. Perfect design; the battery is invisibly placed in the down tube and there is only one button on the top tube for control.

Enable Youtube videosThis bike radiates classic elegance, and you feel it while riding: electric assistance in several levels, your own muscle power and a high-end gear unit interact so closely that every pedal stroke flows. The frame is made from heat-treated 6061-T6 aluminium, triple-butted in the Aero-Shape tube set, with smoothed welds, internal cable routing and an integrated seat clamp. A forged bottom bracket shell and forged dropouts with slider tensioning system and belt port give the trapez frame its stability, while the hydroformed aluminium fork with tapered steerer, post mount mount and 15 mm through-axle forms the counterpart. The silhouette remains free of interruptions – battery, motor and cables are part of the shape.
Six mechanical gears sit in the Pinion C-Line gear unit, which sits directly inside the bottom bracket – a compact unit developed by former Porsche engineers. Shifting works at any time and at every speed, including from a standstill, so the gear change at the junction happens seamlessly. The XR specification is developed for higher loads and sportier riding, the closed construction inside the bottom bracket stays reliable in rain and dirt, and its low position lowers the centre of gravity.
The connection between crank and rear wheel is taken care of by a Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt: 115 teeth on the belt, 39 teeth at the crank, 28 teeth at the rear. Slider tensioning system and belt port keep the tension permanently adjustable. The Schindelhauer belt principle pays off with up to four times as long distances as a chain, and trousers stay clean on the way.
The MAHLE X20 system provides the drive: a rear hub motor with 250 watts nominal power and 55 Nm of torque assists up to 25 km/h, the inTube battery with 250 Wh of capacity disappears invisibly in the down tube, and a single button in the top tube handles control – Bluetooth and ANT+ maintain the connection to the app. Three support levels are available, and because the motor is feather-light and applies its force at the rear wheel alone, the bike also rides calmly and naturally without assistance.
The LightSKIN City technology takes care of visibility: the handlebar houses the headlight, the seatpost the taillight – both compactly integrated into the components and StVZO-compliant. Both lights work from the e-bike battery and are ready to go at any time, so while pedalling the bike forms a complete lighting system and travels just as reliably in the city as at dusk.
Weather, comfort and control are handled by Curana DLite mudguards, Schindelhauer ergo leather grips and the Brooks B17 S Lady saddle on a chromed rail, which sits softly and upright; the Satori stem made of steel and aluminium completes the cockpit, and the CNC-machined Schindelhauer Urban Pedals in aluminium belong to the drivetrain. Shimano Alfine S7000 hydraulic brakes with 160 mm discs brake powerfully and with precise modulation. Schindelhauer front hub, Kinlin TL23R rims and Sapim Race spokes in a StraightPull design with triple and double crossing lacing give the wheel high stiffness, while Continental GP Urban Classic tyres in 35-622 ensure calm running on asphalt and secure grip on cobbles. A total weight of 15.9 kg and an approved total weight of up to 130 kg make the bike handy and robust.
Everything for everyday life and tours is on board: bottle cage mounts, a lock mount, kickstand mounting and a rear rack attachment that can take luggage for day trips and weekend getaways. In combination with the wide city tyres, the belt drive and the integrated lighting, the result is a package that keeps running reliably and needs little care even after a full working day.
This model designation follows a clear pattern and consists of four parts. “Antonia” is a classic first name – the female form of Antonius and at the same time the name of the trapez-framed sister model, while “Arthur” carries the diamond frame. The Roman numeral “VI” stands for six and indicates the number of gears of the Pinion C-Line gear unit. The suffix “X20” names the drive system from MAHLE: a rear hub motor with 250 watts nominal power and 55 Nm of torque as well as the inTube battery integrated in the down tube with 250 Wh. Cream white is the paint of this bike, and the second colour of the series is called sage green.
Within the Antonia series the VI X20 occupies a middle position: it combines the six-gear drive of the base version with the powerful X20 motor. The IX variant provides nine Pinion steps and is aimed at riders who want a finer ratio spread for hilly terrain; the IX X35 combines the nine steps with the older X35 technology and 40 Nm. Sizes are available in XS at 48 cm, S at 52 cm and M at 56 cm frame length, colours in cream white and sage green. Anyone looking for the same technology in a diamond frame will find it in the Arthur VI X20 in several sizes up to L.
Beyond the drive variants, the programme includes other lines: the gravel diamond frame relies on sportier components for faster tours, the Bosch-driven e-bikes deliver even more torque for steep mountain routes, the Nexus models target the plain city machine and the singlespeeds the reduced solution for everyone who deliberately prefers a simple drivetrain. Name pairs such as Emil alongside Emilia or Gustav alongside Greta are no coincidence: this manufacturer consistently offers frame variants and gender variants as pairs.
The VI X20 was conceived for urban everyday use: the low step-through of the trapez frame makes frequent mounting and dismounting easier, the low weight of 15.9 kg makes the bike easy to handle, and the Pinion gear unit allows shifting while standing and at every speed. The Gates carbon belt runs almost silently, the LightSKIN lighting remains invisibly integrated in handlebar and seatpost while being StVZO-compliant, and the mudguards keep off rain and dirt. For everyone who values an easy step-through more than the sporty look of a diamond frame, the low step of this Antonia is exactly the right decision – with a design that makes the bike barely distinguishable from a conventional bicycle.
Compared with the IX X20, the VI X20 is the variant with fewer but larger gears and therefore intended for everyone who rides few, deliberately chosen ratios while still making full use of the 55 Nm system. Compared with the Bosch-driven bikes you opt for an especially light, quiet system with hub motor, and compared with singlespeed and Nexus models for a multi-step drivetrain with Gates belt and Pinion gearbox. The optional rear rack attachment additionally makes it a bike for day trips and weekend getaways.
