Enable Youtube videosThe Marin Alpine Trail 1 is the entry point into Marin's uncompromising Alpine Trail platform, designed for aggressive trail and enduro riding. Entry-level doesn't mean cutting corners where it matters: the Alpine Trail 1 uses the same Series 4 aluminum frame and 160 mm MultiTrac LT suspension platform as the range-topping Alpine Trail XR. This gives riders a high-quality foundation with plenty of potential for future component upgrades.
The Series 4 aluminum frame is built for aggressive trail and enduro riding, combining 160 mm of rear travel with modern, confidence-inspiring geometry. Its MultiTrac LT suspension uses a Horst-link design tuned to balance sensitivity, support and progression. The result is predictable control through fast and rough terrain with plenty of reserves for bigger hits and technical trails.
Up front, an X-Fusion Vengeance fork delivers 170 mm of travel, while a custom-tuned X-Fusion H3A air shock controls the rear suspension. With 170 mm up front and 160 mm at the rear, the Alpine Trail 1 is clearly designed with demanding descents and enduro riding in mind.
One of the key features of the new Alpine Trail platform is its highly adjustable geometry. Flip chips at the rear allow riders to alter bottom bracket height and chainstay length, while the adjustable headset provides ±0.75° of head angle adjustment. This makes it possible to tune the bike to personal preferences and different trails – from a slacker, more stable setup for fast descents to a more agile configuration for tight and technical terrain.
The Alpine Trail 1 comes standard with a mixed-wheel setup featuring a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheel. This combination brings together the stability and rollover capability of the larger front wheel with an agile and playful rear end. Riders looking for maximum stability can alternatively convert the bike to a full 29-inch setup. Combined with the adjustable geometry, this provides plenty of options for tailoring the Alpine Trail to the rider and terrain.
Marin equips the Alpine Trail 1 with a proven Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain. Its wide-range 10–51T cassette provides plenty of gearing for steep climbs, while the robust Deore components deliver reliable shifting performance under demanding trail conditions.
Powerful TRP Slate EVO four-piston brakes with large 203 mm rotors front and rear provide confident stopping performance on fast and steep descents. Tubeless-compatible Marin aluminum rims are paired with an aggressive Maxxis tire combination: a Maxxis Assegai 29 x 2.5" with MAXXGRIP compound and EXO+ casing up front and a Maxxis Minion DHR II 27.5 x 2.5" with MAXXTERRA compound and tough DoubleDown casing at the rear.
A standard TranzX dropper post with size-specific travel of up to 200 mm, short 35 mm stem and wide 780 mm Marin Mini-Riser handlebar complete the trail-focused build. For longer days on the bike, Marin also integrates its practical Bear Box downtube storage, providing space for tools and other trail essentials directly inside the frame.
The Marin Alpine Trail 1 is therefore much more than simply the most affordable model in the range. It provides a genuine entry into the full Alpine Trail platform, including the same versatile and highly adjustable frame concept found on the higher-spec models – making it an excellent choice for riders looking for a capable enduro bike with plenty of upgrade potential.
