Emilia is a fully equipped e-bike with all the advantages of an all-rounder and a lower frame. Up to 55 Nm of torque ensures exceptional riding dynamics – the MAHLE X20 motor is slim and lightweight, and the carbon toothed belt enables up to four times the mileage of a chain. No grease or oil means no dirt on your clothes. Add to that the great design: the battery is concealed in the down tube and there is only one button on the top tube for control.
Comfortable, functional and with a powerful minimalist design. Another highlight is the frame-mounted front luggage rack with a clever tension strap system. Even larger loads can be transported safely without affecting handling. The LightSKIN Ultra-Mini-Light U2E, the world's smallest StVZO bicycle front light, integrated into the aluminium profile mudguard, ensures optimum visibility at night.
The frame is made of triple-butted AL6061-T6 aluminium, built as an aero tube set with forged bottom bracket shell, forged dropouts including sliding tensioner system and Schindelhauer belt port. The integrated motor plug, the integrated seatpost clamp, smoothed welds and internal cable routing keep surface and design line flawless and reduced. A longer head tube and the shorter Satori Stealth aluminium stem, together with the Acros ICR 1.5-inch headset, ensure a comfortable, upright seating position in which even long kilometres are ridden relaxed. The hydroformed aluminium fork with tapered head tube, internal cable routing, post mount brake mount and 15 mm through-axle blends seamlessly into this design. The low-step trapezoid frame also makes mounting and dismounting easy in dense traffic.
The Pinion C-Line gear unit with six gears – developed by former Porsche engineers – works sequentially in the bottom bracket and shifts precisely both at standstill and while riding. Its spread of 295 percent is sufficient for city traffic, commute routes and the usual gradients of urban terrain. Because the gearbox sits immediately in the chain of power, the rear wheel stays calm and the bearings are spared. A Gates Carbon Drive CDX toothed belt with 39 teeth at the front, 34/28 teeth at the rear and 118 or 115 teeth transmits drive force – three to four times the service life of a chain at the same efficiency, with less maintenance and a clean running result. Pinion bottom bracket, Pinion crankset and VP plastic pedals with grip tape and industrial bearings complete the drivetrain.
The Mahle X20 hub drive delivers the highest torque in the range: 250 watts, 55 Nm and support up to 25 km/h. The X20 Intube battery with around 250 Wh sits invisibly in the down tube, controlled via the Mahle X20 head unit in the top tube with Bluetooth and ANT+ or through an app. The motor is integrated into the rear wheel hub via a 12 mm through-axle, while the wheel uses a straight-pull front hub disc. 55 Nm provide quiet, decisive pull-away and reserve on every incline.
On 27.5-inch Kinlin TL23R rims with Sapim race spikes and three-fold and two-fold lacing run 50 mm wide Continental Contact Urban tyres with reflective strip. The high-volume tyres absorb cobblestones and park paths and give confidence on wet roads. Hydraulic Shimano MT200 disc brakes with 160 mm rotors deliver reliable deceleration. Schindelhauer CITY handlebar, grips and seatpost as well as the Selle Royal Essenza moderate saddle form a comfort-oriented specification in reduced design.
The lighting consists of the LightSKIN Ultra-Mini-Light U2E at the front and the ILU jr. at the rear, both StVZO-approved and powered directly from the battery. With 150 lumens, the front light is the smallest StVZO-approved bicycle light in the world and is integrated flat into the Curana Apollo mudguard made of aluminium profile, while the rear light sits just as discreetly in the mudguard skirt. The frame-mounted aluminium front rack with VarioStrap tensioning system holds luggage pieces of any shape securely and leaves the handling unchanged even with larger loads – the basis for weekend trips, multi-day tours and spontaneous bikepacking adventures. Added to this are the option of a kickstand, holders for bottle and lock as well as the possibility of fitting a frame lock. The total weight rating of 130 kg leaves plenty of room for shopping and luggage.
“Emilia” is the female model name and marks the trapezoid frame with low entry – the counterpart to “Emil” with diamond frame. “VI” is the Roman six and stands for the six gears of the Pinion C-Line gear unit with 295 percent spread; the nine-speed edition is called IX. “X20” names the drive generation from Mahle with 250 watts, 55 Newton metres and the head unit in the top tube – the successor generation X35 works with 40 Newton metres. “S (45cm)” is the frame size, also available as M (50cm), and “lavendelblau” is the colour. Taken together, this yields a fully equipped combination of low step-through, highest torque and six gears.
The EMILIA VI X20 applies the strongest drive output of the range to a low-step trapezoid frame and to six gears. Compared to the IX gearbox with 568 percent spread, the six-speed version stays at 295 percent – the right configuration for city and commute routes. Compared with the X35 generation, the differences are clear: 55 instead of 40 Newton metres, 50 mm Continental Contact Urban tyres on Kinlin TL23R rims instead of 47 mm WTB Horizon on Alexrims DP23, a Selle Royal Essenza moderate saddle instead of the Schindelhauer saddle, the Mahle X20 head unit in the top tube instead of the iWoc ONE as well as a forged bottom bracket shell instead of the forged Pinion bridge. In terms of colour, the X20 generation is broader: mineral grey, midnight green and lavender blue are available, while the X35 versions appear in sage green and mineral grey.
The EMILIA VI X20 is aimed at everyone who is looking for a low step-through, full equipment and the highest torque in the range, and who wants to ride a manageable bike with six gears. The 55 Nm provide quiet, decisive pull-away and bring reserve on hills and longer climbs. Six gears cover city traffic and commute routes comfortably, the 250 Wh carry the stop-and-go traffic and the way to work, and the upright seating position with longer head tube and shorter stem keeps even long kilometres pleasant. The low entry makes mounting and dismounting easier in tight situations and makes this bike the comfortable choice for everyone who combines many short journeys in everyday life.
Emil with diamond frame is the male counterpart; beyond that, the Schindelhauer programme includes Gustav and Greta as classic city bikes with Nexus hub gears, Arthur and Antonia as minimalist e-bikes with Mahle drive, Ludwig and Lotte as high-quality all-rounders with Alfine gear, Wilhelm as the gravel bike for terrain and tour, Siegfried and Hektor as two purist singlespeed models, Cato as the track bike and Neo as the compact 20-inch folding bike. The EMILIA VI X20 is thus the most comprehensive electric line-up variant with low step-through: fully equipped, comfortable and with full drive reserve.
