The Caleta 8.2 is a sporty touring bike with a powerful belt drive, Pinion C1.12 gear shift and lightweight graphite aluminium frame. Ideal for commuters and touring with luggage. The stable steering fork, hub dynamo LED lighting and luggage rack ensure riding pleasure, style and everyday practicality.
In addition, the Swiss HG 1800 Spline wheels with Schwalbe G-One Overland Performance tyres offer excellent rolling characteristics and low weight. Mobile 365 days a year – freedom in everyday traffic.
Stevens Caleta 8.2 HT combines a dynamic Aluminium 6061 diamond frame with one of the most low-maintenance drivetrains around: the Pinion C1.12 gearbox and a Gates CDC carbon belt. Integrated into the bottom bracket area, the gearbox offers twelve gears with an enormous 600 percent gear range and is operated via a twist grip, so gears engage cleanly regardless of weather, dirt and idle time. The 113-tooth belt runs on CDX pulleys and transfers power quietly, oil-free and with minimal wear. Braking is handled by the hydraulic Shimano CUES U8000 disc brakes with 180 mm rotors, which bite powerfully and modulate finely. Excellent visibility comes from the Supernova LED system with the E3 Pure 3 headlight (205 lumens including daytime running light) and the TL 3 Mini taillight with standlight function. The stiff DT Swiss HG 1800 Spline wheels, the Racktime carrier with SNAP-IT-2.0, Kid'n'Carry and QL3.1 system, Curana mudguards, a kickstand and a bell complete the FEQ equipment. The 45 mm wide, tubeless-ready Schwalbe G-One Overland tyres and a permitted total weight of 140 kg make Caleta 8.2 HT a reliable companion in every season.
Caleta is the Spanish word for a small bay and goes back to the coastal village of Caleta de Famara on Lanzarote, where Stevens tests its models. The 8.2 is made up of series class 8 and the digit 2, which marks the second version of that tier with a gearbox and belt drivetrain. HT stands for “High Tube” and denotes the diamond frame with a high top tube for direct power transfer. Graphite, finally, names the subtle graphite-grey finish.
Caleta 8.2 HT is among the top models of the series and pairs the Gates carbon belt with the twelve-speed Pinion C1.12 gearbox. That clearly sets it apart from the hub-gear models 5.2 (Nexus 8) and 7.2 (Alfine 11), which work with less range and a conventional hub, as well as from all derailleur models 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 and 9.1. Only the flagship 9.2 steps up once more with the Pinion P1.18 and eighteen gears. With its Shimano CUES U8000 brakes, the 8.2 sits on the same high level as the 9.1 and 9.2. The HT version, with its high top tube, appeals to sporty riders; anyone who prefers a comfortable low step-through chooses the LT version with the identical drivetrain.
Caleta 8.2 HT is a sporty touring and trekking bike for anyone who wants an easy-care bike to ride all year round – from the daily commute to weekend trips and multi-day touring with luggage. The sealed Pinion gearbox and the carbon belt require hardly any maintenance and stay smooth even in rain and road salt, while the balanced geometry, the stiff diamond frame and the wide Schwalbe tyres combine riding fun with smooth running. Thanks to the extensive FEQ equipment with powerful lighting, carrier, mudguards and kickstand, the bike is ready for everyday use straight away, and the permitted total weight of 140 kg allows for a child seat as well as heavy luggage. Within the Stevens range it sets itself apart from the sporty Camino series without fixed lighting and carrier, as well as from the Tour series (Aviolo, 6X Lite Tour) and the Urban series (Amant, Kalea, Strada). Riders who prefer a derailleur will find one on the 6.1 to 9.1; those who want even more gears and range with a gearbox turn to the flagship 9.2.
