Enable Youtube videosStevens Caleta 7.2 LT combines a lightweight Aluminium 6061 frame in trapezoid shape with a particularly uncomplicated drivetrain. A Gates CDC carbon belt with 122 teeth and CDX pulleys transfers power to the Shimano Alfine 11 hub gear, which covers a wide spectrum for city and touring with eleven speeds and a 409 percent gear range. Because the belt and hub work as sealed units, the drivetrain stays clean, quiet and weather-resistant – ideal for a bike that is in use all year round. The hydraulic Shimano BR-MT410 disc brakes with 180 mm rotors slow the bike reliably, and their Deore quality suits the even output of the hub. For visibility, the hub-dynamo LED lighting with the Trelock Light Hammer 80 headlight (80 lux with daytime running light) and the B+M Xeltec Mini taillight with standlight function is on board. The FEQ equipment includes a Racktime carrier with SNAP-IT-2.0, Kid'n'Carry and QL3.1 system, mudguards, a kickstand and a bell. With the 45 mm wide, tubeless-ready Schwalbe G-One Overland tyres and a permitted total weight of 140 kg, this becomes a fully furnished companion for everyday life, shopping and multi-day tours.
The name Caleta comes from Spanish and stands for a small bay; the model is named after the coastal village of Caleta de Famara on Lanzarote, where Stevens tests its models in depth. The number sequence 7.2 is made up of series class 7 and the digit 2, which marks the second, belt-driven version of that tier. The letters LT stand for “Low Tube” and denote the trapezoid frame with an easy step-through. Velvet Black, finally, describes the deep black finish.
Caleta 7.2 LT belongs to the belt faction of the family and pairs the Gates carbon belt with the eleven-speed Shimano Alfine hub gear – so it offers more gear range than the 5.2 models, which work with the eight-speed Nexus hub. From the classic derailleur models 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 and 9.1 it differs through its low-maintenance, fully enclosed drivetrain, and compared with the top models 8.2 LT and 9.2 HT, which combine the belt with the Pinion gearbox, it remains the compact hub-gear alternative in the mid-range. With the Shimano Deore BR-MT410 brakes it also sets a fine step up in quality over its more affordable siblings. Anyone who prefers the same drivetrain with a classic step-over will find it in the HT version 7.2 HT; the LT trapezoid frame appeals to everyone who likes an easy step-through and comfortable mounting.
Caleta 7.2 LT is an uncomplicated city and trekking tourer for people who want to travel comfortably and without worries – on the way to work, on a weekend trip, while shopping and even on multi-day tours with luggage. The belt, hub gear and the extensive FEQ equipment with lighting, carrier, mudguards and kickstand make everyday life easy, while the aluminium geometry and the wide Schwalbe tyres provide comfort and stability. With a permitted total weight of 140 kg, it carries a child seat and luggage. Within the Stevens range it stands for the well-groomed, low-maintenance entry into the touring world and sets itself apart from sportier series such as Camino, which do without a carrier and lighting, as well as from the Tour series (Aviolo, 6X Lite Tour) and the Urban series (Amant, Kalea, Strada). Riders who prefer a derailleur turn to 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 or 9.1; those who want maximum freedom from maintenance with a gearbox inside the frame turn to 8.2 LT or 9.2 HT.
