The Aviolo 7.1 is your robust companion for city and touring. With a lightweight aluminium frame, comfortable geometry, SR Suntour air suspension fork and Shimano CUES 2x10 gears, it can handle any terrain. Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency tyres offer puncture protection and riding enjoyment.
Robust travel and touring bike with reliable everyday features such as LED lighting and luggage rack – in stylish Bonsai Green.
The frame in 6061 aluminium is built as an LT, which means a trapeze shape with a top tube that drops low and clears the way over the front wheel – the shape through which this bike fulfils its actual purpose: setting off effortlessly, rolling over uneven ground, getting off in front of your own front door. The technical basis is that of a travel bike: 142 mm O.L.D., BSA bottom bracket, internal cable routing and postmount mounts for 160 mm rotors. At 16.7 kg it stays light enough to be carried into the cellar, the cellar compartment or a bike rack, and with the frame sizes XS to L it is available for smaller to larger body sizes. The colour Bonsai Green is a deep, satiated green that highlights the clear lines of the frame and gives the bike a certain calmness.
The gear unit is a Shimano CUES U6000 chain drivetrain with two chainrings and a 10-speed rear derailleur: The two-piece FC-U6000-2 crankset delivers 46 and 30 teeth, the CS-LG300-10 cassette reaches from 11 to 39 teeth, which results in 20 gears and 44 teeth of total capacity. Front derailleur FD-U6010-LL3, the Shadow RD-U6020-10-SGS rear derailleur and the CN-LG500 LINKGLIDE chain complete the picture. The 30 teeth on the small chainring make the bike easier to handle in town, because this way short pull-aways can also be ridden smoothly, while the 46 teeth provide the necessary propulsion on long distances – the same drivetrain therefore covers both tasks. The SL-U6000-L and SL-U6000-10R shift levers and the Tektro three-finger brake levers sit on the same grip level.
The suspension offers the most direct way to adjust the riding feel of this bike: The SR Suntour NRX32IL-D air suspension fork provides 60 mm of travel, and because it works with air, its behaviour can be adapted to body weight, tyres and riding style – from soft and sensitive to tight and direct. The Tektro HD-T280 hydraulic disc brakes at front and rear work with two pistons and 180 mm Tektro TR180-35 rotors in centre-lock design and brake safely even in the wet, without the need to pull on the handlebar. The wheels with Oxygen Taurus 26 rims in 26x622 ETRTO, the Shimano FH-TC500 as front hub and the Shutter Precision PL-6 hub dynamo at the rear carry 45-622 Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency Performance tyres with RaceGuard, ADDIX compound and reflective strips – a tyre construction that combines durability with even rolling.
With its lighting, this model focuses on clarity: The Trelock Light Hammer 80 LED headlight delivers 80 lux, the B+M Xeltec Mini stand rear light completes the view at the rear, and both work off the hub dynamo, which requires no charging. The Racktime STV RC 04 luggage rack with SNAP IT 2.0 and QL3.1 is the part that turns this travel bike into a bike for journeys and everyday use: it takes pannier bags, side panniers and large bags and thus carries the load for bikepacking, multi-day tours and the daily shopping trip. Curana Apollo 60 mudguards, the Scorpo Rise handlebar with 680 mm width, 9° backsweep and 25 mm rise, the Scorpo stem at 20°, the Selle Royal Vivo Ergo saddle and the Scorpo seatpost with 10 mm offset form an upright, relaxed seating position that also gets through a long working day well. Added to this are ATB Alu Reflex pedals, the STEVENS Edge kickstand with KSA 40 mount, the D85 bell and the total weight limit of 140 kg; child seats are approved, and trailers up to 40 kg or 80 kg with a trailer brake are permitted.
“Aviolo" stands for the model series of the STEVENS travel and touring bikes, whose equipment includes a lightweight aluminium frame, a suspension fork, hub dynamo lighting, a luggage rack and mudguards. The 7 names the middle equipment level of the range: it sits above the 6.1 and the 5.2 and below the 8.1 and the 9.1. The 1 after the point indicates the type of drive – the Aviolo 1 models 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 and 9.1 ride with a chain drivetrain, while the 5.2 rides with Gates belt drive and Shimano Nexus 8. “LT" means Low Tube and stands for the trapeze frame with a lowered top tube, in contrast to the HT diamond frame. Bonsai Green is the colour designation, a deep green.
Within the range, the 7.1 occupies the position of the well-balanced middle ground: with 20 gears, 44 teeth of capacity and 16.7 kg it sits below the 8.1, which offers 22 gears, 48 teeth and 16.4 kg, above the 6.1 with 18 gears, steel suspension and around 17.5 kg, and well above the 5.2 with belt drive, Shimano Nexus 8 and a steel spring at 17.9 kg. Compared with the 6.1 it brings the air suspension fork and two more gears, compared with the 8.1 the lighter two-piece crankset, the 30 teeth on the small chainring and the cassette concentrated on ten steps. Within the 7.1, the LT differs from the HT in the lower step-through, the narrower 680 mm Scorpo Rise handlebar and the sizes XS to L, while the HT reaches further in length and width with 700 mm and XS to XXL. Everything else – air suspension, CUES drivetrain, Tektro brakes, wheels and lighting – is the same in both variants.
The purpose of this bike lies on the routes that alternate between everyday life and excursion: the way to work, the stretch through town, the loop through forest and field and the multi-day journey with luggage. It is designed precisely for this range. The air suspension with 60 mm and adjustable air pressure absorbs road bumps that a rigid bike pass on to the head, neck and wrists; the 20 gears with 30 teeth on the small chainring allow short city pull-aways to be ridden as smoothly as long climbs with luggage; the 180 mm disc brakes ensure deceleration on a wet road surface without large hand forces. The Racktime rack makes this a genuine travel bike, and the 45 mm tyres with RaceGuard are as robust over long distances as they are in dense city traffic. Compared with the 8.1 and the 9.1 with 22 gears, it is the model with fewer gear steps and the straightforward 10-speed cassette, which in return is equipped with the same air suspension, the same 80 lux and the same luggage rack and, at 16.7 kg, sits in the same lightweight class.
