The high-quality touring bike for city and adventure. With a lightweight aluminium frame in Light Olive, comfortable geometry and air suspension fork, it offers pleasant riding comfort. The Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub and belt drive ensure low-maintenance, reliable shifting. Conti Contact Urban tyres guarantee grip and puncture protection.
This bike is an affordable entry into the world of STEVENS touring bikes. Bright LED lighting with hub dynamo included.
A frame that makes climbing onto the bike as natural for the playground as for the commute home: The 6061 aluminium is built as an LT frame, a trapeze with a noticeably lowered top tube that clears the way over the front wheel. The 135 mm O.L.D., the BSA 68 mm bottom bracket, the postmount mounts for 160 mm rotors and the internal cable routing ensure that the low-slung look stays technically tidy. Adjustable dropouts and the bolted right seat stay are details you only notice on a second glance. Light Olive is an unusually self-confident colour for a touring bike. At 17.9 kg with a total weight limit of 140 kg, the bike stays easy to handle while carrying plenty of luggage; sizes XS, S, M and L are available.
The drivetrain is what makes this model stand out: A Gates CDN Center Track carbon belt with 122 teeth transfers the power from the 50-tooth Gates S250 CDN crankset to a 24-tooth Center Track sprocket – free of oil, free of lubricant and almost silent. Gearing is handled by the Shimano Nexus SG-C6001-8D, an 8-speed hub gear with freewheel and 307 percent of gear span, which provides every gear without any chain needing to be tensioned. The chain guard on the crankset keeps trousers and skirts clean when setting off. This drivetrain architecture demands as little attention in stop-and-go city traffic as it does on a long day of touring.
Suspension is provided by the SR Suntour NRX32-SP steel suspension fork with 63 mm of travel: it works without any adjustment, is unaffected by rain and workshop visits, and absorbs the unevenness a city and commuter bike takes on every day. Tektro HD-T280 hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm Tektro TR180-35 rotors and centre lock deliver even, weather-independent braking, controlled via three-finger levers. Continental Contact Urban tyres in 47-622 with Safety Pro, PureGrip compound and reflective strips run in Oxygen Taurus 26 rims with 26x622 ETRTO – the wide format that brings comfort and holds its own on cycle paths and good gravel alike.
With lighting, luggage rack and mudguards, the bike is completely equipped: The Shimano DH-3D37 hub dynamo in the rear wheel supplies the B+M Briq-S T Senso+ LED headlight with 60 lux and the AXA Juno stand rear light, so light is permanently available. The Racktime STV RC 04 with SNAP IT 2.0 and QL3.1 system accepts side panniers, pannier bags and large bags – the prerequisite for shopping trips, commuting with luggage and bikepacking. Curana Apollo 60 mudguards, the STEVENS Edge kickstand with KSA 40 mount and the D85 bell complete the setup, while the Scorpo Rise handlebar with 680 mm width, 9° backsweep and 25 mm rise, the Oxygen stem at 17°, the Scorpo seat post with 17 mm offset and the Selle Royal Vivo Ergo saddle create an upright, relaxed seating position. Together this makes a bike that rolls away without preparation: approved for child seats, for trailers up to 40 kg or 80 kg with a trailer brake, and with a total weight limit of 140 kg designed for plenty of luggage.
“Aviolo" is the model family of the STEVENS travel and touring bikes, distinguished by a lightweight aluminium frame, a suspension fork, hub dynamo lighting, a luggage rack and mudguards. The 5 denotes the entry level within this family and marks the most restrained model, above which levels 6, 7, 8 and 9 each step up. The 2 after the point stands for the type of drive: it designates the combination of hub and belt drive found only on the 5.2, whereas the Aviolo 1 models 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 and 9.1 use a chain drivetrain with front and rear derailleur. “LT" means Low Tube and names the trapeze frame with a low top tube, which exists alongside the HT diamond frame and the Forma wave frame. Light Olive is the colour designation – a muted, warm olive green.
Two features distinguish the 5.2 from all other Aviolo models: the belt instead of the chain and the hub instead of the derailleurs. Compared with the 6.1 at 17.4 to 17.6 kg with Shimano CUES U4000 2x9 and 18 gears, and the 7.1 at 16.8 kg with CUES U6000 2x10, 20 gears and air suspension fork, this means a drivetrain that stays the same over the bike's entire service life and never needs adjusting. Compared with the 8.1 at 16.4 kg with CUES U6000 2x11 and the 9.1 at 15.8 kg with CUES U8000 2x11 and 48 teeth, it offers a smaller number of gears but the simplest technology in the entire range. The 47 mm Continental tyres, the 60 lux lighting, the steel-sprung frame with 63 mm of travel and the weight of 17.9 kg it largely shares with the 6.1. Within the 5.2 family, only the frame shape decides: HT from S to XXL, LT from XS to L and Forma from XS to L – technically identical, different in execution. The LT is the version with the low top tube for everyone who wants a classic trapeze shape with an easy step-through.
The 5.2 LT is designed for the cycle path where a bike stands every day: The low step-through allows setting off at every traffic light without any slipping, the belt runs on evenly when pulling away, and the 60 lux make the bike visible early in the morning. On longer loops into the surrounding area, the 8 gears of the Nexus hub, the 47 mm tyres and 63 mm of travel provide relaxed riding, while the luggage rack takes shopping, commuting bags and equipment for multi-day tours. Child seats are approved, and trailers up to 40 kg or 80 kg with a trailer brake can be attached. Compared with the models featuring air suspension and 18 to 22 gears, it is the bike for everyone who wants technology that looks after itself – and according to the manufacturer, the value-priced entry into the world of STEVENS tour bikes.
