This bike starts low: The 6061 aluminium frame is built in the Forma shape, a geometry with a strongly curved top tube pulled far downwards, which leaves the entry over the front wheel clear and allows mounting and dismounting without any steps. A BSA 68 mm bottom bracket, postmount mounts for 160 mm rotors and internal cable routing keep the organic lines tidy, while adjustable dropouts and the bolted right seat stay give the carrier extra reserves. The rich Light Olive highlights that shape and turns an everyday bike into a distinctive companion. A weight of 17.9 kg within a total weight limit of 140 kg results in a robust, day-to-day construction, available in sizes XS, S, M and L.
The special feature of this model lies in its drivetrain: A Gates CDN Center Track carbon belt with 122 teeth runs across the 50-tooth Gates S250 CDN crankset and a 24-tooth Center Track sprocket, completely free of oil and lubricant. The 8-speed Shimano Nexus SG-C6001-8D hub gear with freewheel and 307 percent of gear span provides every gear without any chain that has to be tensioned or readjusted. The crankset's chain guard keeps pedalling movements cleanly away from the frame, and the Tektro HD-T280 hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors and three-finger levers deliver clearly graduated stopping power at any time.
Visibility is permanently secured with 60 lux of LED light and a hub dynamo: The Shimano DH-3D37 in the rear wheel generates the current for the B+M Briq-S T Senso+ headlight and the AXA Juno stand rear light. The Racktime STV RC 04 luggage rack with SNAP IT 2.0 and QL3.1 system accepts side panniers and pannier bags, so shopping, commuting luggage and travel bags all find a place. Curana Apollo 60 mudguards keep most of the rain away, the STEVENS Edge kickstand with KSA 40 mount carries the weight, and the D85 bell rounds things off. The 47-622 Continental Contact Urban tyres with Safety Pro, PureGrip compound and reflective strips form a comfortable, grippy base.
It is precisely this interplay that makes the 5.2 Forma a calm everyday bike: The belt runs quietly and stays even after months of use, the steel suspension fork with 63 mm of travel works continuously without any adjustment, and the wide 47 mm tyres damp cobblestones and kerb edges, while the comfortable geometry and the Selle Royal Vivo Ergo saddle make long stages manageable. For cycle journeys with luggage, for bicycle trailers up to 40 kg or 80 kg with a trailer brake and with an approved child seat, everything is on board that keeps the bike fit for daily use.
“Aviolo" names the STEVENS series of travel and touring bikes, united by a lightweight aluminium frame, a suspension fork, hub dynamo lighting, a luggage rack and mudguards. The digit 5 stands for the equipment level and marks the entry point into this range, above which the 6, 7, 8 and 9 levels follow with progressively higher equipment. The 2 after the point indicates the type of drive: it designates the combination of hub gear and belt drive that distinguishes the 5.2, whereas all Aviolo 1 models – 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 and 9.1 – rely on a chain drivetrain with front and rear derailleur. “Forma" names the frame shape with the lowest, continuously curved top tube and thus the lowest entry of the three frame shapes, alongside HT with a raised top tube and LT with a lowered one. Light Olive is this model's colour designation – a rich, calm olive green.
Within the range, the 5.2 occupies the base. In contrast to the 6.1 at 17.5 kg with Shimano CUES U4000 2x9 and 18 gears, and the 7.1 at 16.8 kg with CUES U6000 2x10 and 20 gears, it relies on belt and hub gear: the drive remains the same over its entire service life, while the number of gears increases in the chain-shifting models. It shares the 47 mm wide Continental Contact Urban tyres with the 6.1, while the 7.1, the 8.1 at 16.4 kg with CUES U6000 2x11 and the 9.1 at 15.9 kg with CUES U8000 2x11 and 48 teeth of capacity rely on 45 mm wide Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency tyres, magnesium air suspension forks and growing gear reserves. Within its own model family, the frame shape is what matters: HT from S to XXL, LT from XS to L and Forma from XS to L add up to thirteen sizes. The three shapes are technically identical, so body height and preferred saddle height alone determine the choice – and the wave shape from XS to L offers the widest selection for smaller and medium body sizes.
The 5.2 Forma is aimed at everyone who uses their bike daily or over long periods without interruption. The curved frame shape makes mounting and dismounting easier in any situation, the belt drive keeps shifting consistent even in dense traffic and frequent starts, and the 60 lux lighting with hub dynamo makes the bike ready to ride after dusk without any charging time. Combined with the luggage rack, mudguards, comfortable geometry and the 680 mm wide Scorpo Rise handlebar, this results in a bike that equally covers shopping trips, the school run, weekend outings and multi-day cycle journeys – and remains technically uncomplicated enough to run reliably without regular workshop visits.
