The WILHELM SSP is the singlespeed of the Schindelhauer custom bicycle line for the city: purist design, a low-maintenance belt drive and a sporty directness without equal. In midnight blue, this concept appears almost mysterious – the deep, dark blue makes the aero-shape frame almost invisible at night and turns the bicycle into an elegant companion during the day. Ideal for urban riders who demand style, performance and dynamics in equal measure.

Propulsion comes directly from the crank: The Gates carbon belt (60 teeth at the front, 22 at the rear) transfers every pedal turn without loss to the fine-toothed Schindelhauer rear hub. Deceleration is handled by the hydraulic TRP Hylex disc brake, whose drilled levers save weight and offer a good grip. The low bottom bracket and long head and top tubes create a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position; all cables run internally. At just 9.8 kilogrammes, the SSP is the lightest Wilhelm of all, and the Brooks leather saddle B17 with leather bar tape completes the noble equipment. Mudguards and front and rear racks can be mounted; the permissible total weight is 120 kilogrammes.

What the building blocks WILHELM and SSP stand for

WILHELM is the custom bicycle system from Schindelhauer, built entirely according to your wishes. SSP stands for singlespeed: a fixed ratio without derailleur or gearbox that offers maximum directness at minimal maintenance. The colour addition describes the deep, dark blue reminiscent of the colour of midnight, giving the bicycle its unmistakable, calm appearance.

Why singlespeed means the purest ride

Unlike the geared Wilhelms (IX, XII, XIV, XVIII), the SSP does without gearbox and shifting – for the benefit of less weight, less maintenance and a more direct riding feel. Every turn of the crank is immediately noticeable at the rear wheel, and the belt drive runs silent and low-maintenance. This reduction is not a compromise but a statement: those seeking the essentials will find the most honest interpretation of the Wilhelm idea in the SSP – in the dark, calm colour finish this principle becomes especially clear.
