Enable Youtube videosSporty, individual and innovative – three qualities that the WILHELM IX C-LINE in garnet red combines as a matter of course. The deep, richly glowing red of the paintwork gives Schindelhauer's city custom bicycle a dynamic appearance that immediately catches the eye in an urban environment. Behind it works a drivetrain heart of the top class: the Pinion C-Line with nine evenly graduated gears and 364 per cent total range that takes you over almost any hill. The compact central gearboxes of the C-Line rank among the smallest and at the same time most powerful of their kind and are perfectly adapted to use in the city – for your pure cycling fun.
Thanks to the central position of the gear unit, the WILHELM IX C-LINE is optimally balanced, and every gear feels as direct as a singlespeed ratio. As on all Wilhelm models with Pinion gearbox, the gears can also be shifted reliably while stationary. A low bottom bracket as well as long head tubes and top tubes form a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position; all cables are routed internally so that the purist design is preserved. The Gates Carbon belt (39 teeth at the front, 28 at the rear) transfers power to the fine-toothed rear hub; the hydraulic Shimano Alfine S7000 disc brake with 160-millimetre rotors ensures reliable deceleration. A refined Brooks B17 saddle and the ergonomic Schindelhauer leather grips further enhance the riding feel. Mudguards, front and rear racks and optional lighting can be added at any time thanks to the mounting points and a permissible total weight of 120 kilogrammes.
WILHELM names the personal custom bicycle range from Berlin that is geared entirely to your own wishes – from the colour to the choice of components. IX is the Roman nine and stands for the nine gears of the gearbox. C-LINE marks the compact central gearbox line from Pinion that was developed specifically for urban use. Finally, garnet red stands for the powerful, dark glowing red tone of the paintwork that gives this Wilhelm its passionate charisma.
Within the C-Line family, the WILHELM IX C-LINE shares the compact central gearbox principle with its six-gear sister model – the difference lies in the scope of the range. With nine gears and 364 per cent total range, the IX variant covers a noticeably broader spectrum than its six-gear sister model – a gain for everyone who wants the right gear even on longer routes or gentle climbs. The appearance remains the same: identical geometry, identical slim lines, identical classic Brooks B17 saddle. Anyone who appreciates the fundamentals of the C-Line but is looking for more bandwidth is excellently advised with the IX.
This Wilhelm is the all-rounder for the city and beyond: with nine gears it masters the daily way through traffic just as relaxed as brisk rounds on the outskirts or trips into the surrounding countryside. The shifting possible while stationary makes stops at traffic lights and breaks in the city centre uncomplicated, and the tour-ready seating position makes even longer stages comfortable. Thanks to mudguards, front and rear racks and optional lighting as well as the generous 120-kilogramme payload, the bicycle is flexibly deployable from weekend shopping to a small bike trip. And because every Wilhelm is tailored to its rider in small quantities, a suitable solution can be found for almost every taste in the equipment – in case of doubt, simply drop by Radfieber and test it yourself.
