Schindelhauer HEKTOR Singlespeed / graphitschwarz L (59cm) | graphitschwarz | Singlespeed / Freilauf 1

The Hektor in graphite black, a singlespeed bike, was originally designed as a track bike, but is also perfect for urban living: with Tektro brakes and a freewheel, this bike is ideal for cool rides around town. The belt drive, the exceptionally stiff frame and the special geometry ensure a super-responsive riding experience that’s direct and agile.

For the Hektor, the velodrome and criterium are its forte. The frame is built around a triple-butted aero tube set and is particularly valued by Team Schindelhauer Gates for its high stiffness and excellent handling.

The HEKTOR frame is built from triple-butted aero profiles in aluminium (AL6061-T6), and its meticulously smoothed welds give it a particularly clean, elegant surface. Together with the straight carbon monocoque fork, it forms an exceptionally stiff, agile frame that converts every pedal stroke directly into forward drive. Power is transmitted by the Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt: it runs almost silently, needs no lubrication and, combined with the Crocodile belt-tensioning system in the forged horizontal dropouts, creates a low-maintenance, long-lasting drivetrain. HEKTOR rides with exactly one gear – the belt transfers 60 teeth at the front to 22 teeth at the rear and sends the power straight to the rear wheel, with no derailleur and no detours. This clean ratio makes the drivetrain especially efficient and fits the sporting character of this bike perfectly. Internal cable routing in the top tube and the Schindelhauer Belt Port, through which the belt runs neatly through the frame, keep the build tidy and preserve its purist aesthetics; an integrated seat clamp completes the uncluttered look. The Tektro brake system with TRP RRL levers delivers safe deceleration in city traffic, while Continental Ultrasport III tyres roll on Alexrims CX30 rims with Sapim Race spokes. With optional Urban Pedals and matching pedal straps, HEKTOR becomes an individual base for both the race track and the city.

Naming: why HEKTOR is named after an ancient warrior

The model name HEKTOR refers to the Trojan hero Hector from Greek mythology – a fighter who stands for strength, endurance and determination. These are exactly the qualities this bike embodies on track and criterium: robust, fast and uncompromising. The suffix Singlespeed describes the type of drive and thus the second element of the name – a single, fixed gear that does without shifting and sends the rider's power directly to the rear wheel via the belt. Together they form a name that captures the character and the engineering of the bike.

HEKTOR Singlespeed versus Fixed Gear: two characters, one line

Within the HEKTOR family there are two builds: the classic Fixed Gear setup for the track and the Singlespeed version with a freewheel. Both share the same stiff aero frame, the smoothed welds, the internal cable routing and the Gates Carbon Drive belt. The key difference lies in the drivetrain and the braking setup: while the Fixed Gear build is tailored entirely to the velodrome, the Singlespeed variant combines the freewheel with the Tektro brake system (R526, TRP RRL) and thus brings the direct power transfer to the street as well. The sporting core stays identical, while the character shifts with each build.

Purpose: from the track into the urban jungle

HEKTOR was born for the velodrome and criterium, where the stiff aero frame, the carbon fork and the fixed ratio play out their strengths to the full. In the Singlespeed version with Tektro brakes and a freewheel, the very same bike also feels at home in everyday urban life: direct, agile and eye-catching. This gives HEKTOR a distinct role within the Schindelhauer range. While models such as Wilhelm, Hannah or Siegfried cover the comfortable city, trekking and gravel segments, HEKTOR is the uncompromisingly sporty track machine with belt drive – the only track bike of its kind. Those seeking the racetrack find the right partner in the Fixed Gear build, while those who love the urban mix of sport and everyday riding reach for the Singlespeed version.
