Antonia – The Avant-Gardist – Fully integrated electric drive with 55 Nm, manual transmission from the automotive industry, and carbon fiber timing belt: With Antonia, you can experience the most advanced electrification of the classic Schindelhauer bicycle. With the Gates Carbon Drive belt, you can cover up to four times as many kilometers as with a chain, and it's maintenance-free and doesn't require oiling or greasing, so your pants stay clean.
With Antonia, you not only radiate classic elegance – you feel it too. Electric assistance in several stages, your muscle power and a high-end transmission interact perfectly with each other. Perfect design; the battery is invisibly placed in the down tube and there is only one button on the top tube for control.

Enable Youtube videosSage green gives this bike its unmistakable note, and the technology blends into the shape so naturally that the e-bike almost hides its electrification: the battery disappears invisibly in the down tube, the hub motor sits invisibly in the rear wheel, and a single button in the top tube handles control. The silhouette thus remains that of a classic bicycle while assistance in several levels, muscle power and a high-end gear unit interact on every pedal stroke.
The frame is made from heat-treated 6061-T6 aluminium, triple-butted in the Aero-Shape tube set and finished with smoothed welds. Internal cable routing and an integrated seat clamp keep the appearance free of distractions, while the forged bottom bracket shell and forged dropouts with slider tensioning system and belt port reliably absorb the loads. A hydroformed aluminium fork with tapered steerer, post mount mount and 15 mm through-axle completes the package. The result is a trapez frame that scores with a low step-through and an upright seating position.
Shifting is done with six mechanical gears from the Pinion C-Line gear unit, which sits directly inside the bottom bracket and was developed by former Porsche engineers. Shifts are possible while standing and at every speed, so the gear change at the traffic light is done within seconds. Six larger steps give few but clearly recognisable ratios – ideal for rolling on the flat and selecting precisely on a gradient. The XR specification is developed for higher loads and sportier riding, and the low position of the unit inside the bottom bracket additionally lowers the centre of gravity.
Crank and rear wheel are linked by a Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt with 115 teeth, 39 teeth at the crank and 28 teeth at the rear. Slider tensioning system and belt port keep the tension permanently adjustable. The belt delivers up to four times as long distances as a chain, runs almost silently in the process, and clothing stays clean on the way.
The MAHLE X20 system drives the bike and provides the decisive difference when riding without electricity: a rear hub motor with 250 watts nominal power and 55 Nm of torque assists up to 25 km/h. Three support levels are selectable via the head unit in the top tube, connection to the app works over Bluetooth and ANT+, and the feather-light construction of the motor ensures that the bike rides sovereignly even when switched off. Because the power engages at the rear wheel only, the drivetrain stays free, which means very natural riding feel and protects the belt.
The LightSKIN City lighting system takes care of visibility: the handlebar carries the headlight, the seatpost the taillight, both compactly integrated and StVZO-compliant. They work from the e-bike battery and are therefore ready to go at any time, so while pedalling the bike forms a complete lighting system that works just as reliably in the city as at dusk.
Weatherproof comfort and safe control are handled by Curana Dlite mudguards, Schindelhauer ergo leather grips and the Brooks B17 S Lady saddle on a chromed rail, which sits softly and upright; the Satori stem made of steel and aluminium as well as the CNC-machined Schindelhauer Urban Pedals in aluminium complete cockpit and drivetrain. Shimano Alfine S7000 hydraulic brakes with 160 mm discs brake strongly and with precise modulation. Schindelhauer StraightPull hubs with Kinlin TL23R rims and Sapim Race spokes provide a stiff, calm wheel, Continental GP Urban Classic tyres in 35-622 for secure grip on asphalt and cobbles. In size M the bike weighs 15.9 kg, and 130 kg total weight are approved.
For everyday life and tours, bottle cage mounts, a lock mount, kickstand mounting and a rear rack attachment are provided – luggage for day trips and weekend getaways can be attached there. In combination with the wide city tyres, the belt drive and the integrated lighting, the result is a package that keeps running reliably and needs little care even after a full working day.
The model designation of this brand is made up of a few clear building blocks, and none of them is the manufacturer name. “Antonia” is a classic first name, the female form of Antonius, and stands for the trapez-framed variant – the male counterpart with diamond frame is called “Arthur”. “VI” is a Roman numeral and at the same time the gear count: it indicates the six gears of the Pinion C-Line gear unit. “X20” names the drive system from MAHLE with rear hub motor, 250 watts nominal power, 55 Nm of torque and the inTube battery integrated in the down tube with 250 Wh. Sage green is the paint of this bike; the second colour of the series is called cream white.
In the range the VI X20 occupies a mediating position: it combines the six-gear drive of the entry version with the powerful X20 system. Anyone looking for a finer ratio spread will find it in the IX models with nine Pinion steps, anyone preferring 40 Nm will find it in the X35 versions. Frame sizes are available in XS at 48 cm, S at 52 cm and M at 56 cm frame length, colours in sage green and cream white. The same technology is available as Arthur VI X20 in a diamond frame in several sizes up to L.
In addition to the urban programme with its trapez and diamond models, this brand runs other lines: the gravel diamond frame is designed for faster tours with sportier components, the Bosch-driven e-bikes for steep mountain routes with high torque requirements, the Nexus models for the plain city machine and the singlespeeds for the reduced drivetrain solution. That frame and gender variants are offered in pairs is also reflected in the naming scheme: Emil and Emilia, Gustav and Greta, Ludwig and Lotte, Heinrich and Hannah.
The low step-through of the trapez frame and the low weight of 15.9 kg make this bike the first choice for everyone who mounts and dismounts frequently in city traffic, waits at traffic lights with one hand on the bar and rides with luggage. The gear unit allows shifting while standing and at every speed, the belt drive runs almost silently, the integrated lighting remains invisible and is StVZO-compliant, and the mudguards keep off rain and dirt. Anyone who values an easy step-through more than the sporty look of a diamond frame chooses exactly the right frame shape with this Antonia.
Compared with the IX X20, the VI X20 is the variant for everyone who rides few, deliberately chosen gears while making full use of the 55 Nm system. Compared with the Bosch-driven bikes you opt for an especially light, quiet system with hub motor, and compared with singlespeed and Nexus models for a multi-step drivetrain with Gates belt and Pinion gearbox. With the rear rack attachment and the wide city tyres, it also becomes a bike for day trips and weekend getaways.
