The Marin Alpine Trail XR sits at the top of the Alpine Trail platform and represents the most uncompromising version of Marin's enduro full-suspension bike. XR stands for “Extra Rad” – Marin's designation for particularly high-spec models built with maximum performance in mind. On the Alpine Trail XR, that means 160 mm of rear travel, 170 mm up front, highly adjustable geometry and a premium component package designed for fast, rough and technically demanding enduro trails.

At its heart is the premium Series 4 aluminum frame with Marin's MultiTrac LT suspension platform. The Horst-link design delivers 160 mm of rear travel, combining small-bump sensitivity with plenty of support and progressive resistance for bigger impacts. Optimized tube shapes, a redesigned rocker link and carefully engineered chainstays create an exceptionally capable foundation for aggressive trail and enduro riding.

As you'd expect from the flagship model, the Alpine Trail XR receives a no-compromise RockShox Ultimate suspension package. A RockShox ZEB Ultimate fork with 170 mm of travel takes care of the front, while a custom-tuned RockShox Vivid Air Ultimate controls the rear suspension. Extensive adjustment options allow the suspension to be precisely tuned to the rider, terrain and riding style, while delivering outstanding control when trails become fast, steep and rough.

Marin also embraces modern shifting technology with a wireless Shimano Deore Di2 12-speed drivetrain. Electronic shifting delivers fast and precise gear changes without the need for a conventional shift cable running between the handlebar and rear derailleur. A Shimano Deore M6100 cassette provides a wide gear range for steep climbs and fast transfer sections.

Powerful SRAM Maven Silver four-piston brakes provide the stopping power. Combined with large 200 mm HSC rotors front and rear, they deliver huge braking performance and excellent control for long, steep descents and demanding enduro riding.

One of the defining features of the Alpine Trail platform is its highly adjustable geometry. The adjustable headset allows the head angle to be altered by ±0.75°, while additional flip chips at the rear adjust bottom bracket height and chainstay length. This allows the Alpine Trail XR to be tuned from a stable, confidence-inspiring setup for high-speed descents to a more agile configuration for tight and technical trails.

The Alpine Trail XR comes standard with a mixed-wheel setup featuring a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheel. The larger front wheel provides stability and excellent rollover performance, while the smaller rear wheel keeps the bike agile and playful. Alternatively, a 29-inch rear wheel can be fitted to convert the bike to a full 29er. Combined with the flip chips and adjustable headset, the platform offers numerous possibilities for fine-tuning the bike to personal preferences and trail conditions.

Marin underlines the flagship status with DT Swiss M502 rims and DT Swiss 370 hubs front and rear. These are paired with modern Schwalbe Radial tires: a Schwalbe Magic Mary 29 x 2.5" with Ultra Soft compound provides maximum grip and control up front, while a Schwalbe Albert 27.5 x 2.5" with Soft compound takes care of the rear. The combination is designed around traction, stability and puncture protection on demanding terrain.

Premium components continue at the cockpit. The PNW Loam dropper post offers between 150 and 200 mm of size-specific travel and is controlled by a PNW Range lever. A wide PNW Range handlebar and short Marin CNC stem provide plenty of control and freedom of movement on technical descents.

Practical details including weather-sealed internal cable routing, SRAM UDH, Boost axle spacing and extensive chainstay protection complete the well-thought-out frame. Marin's integrated Bear Box downtube storage provides a convenient place for tools and other trail essentials directly inside the bike.

The Alpine Trail XR is the flagship of Marin's Alpine Trail platform, built for riders who want to get the maximum performance from this highly adaptable aluminum chassis. With RockShox Ultimate suspension, wireless Shimano Di2 shifting, SRAM Maven Silver brakes and premium DT Swiss wheels, this “Extra Rad” build comes ready for uncompromising enduro riding straight out of the box.
