Enable Youtube videosThe Marin Alpine Trail 2 is a hard-charging full-suspension mountain bike built for demanding trails and serious enduro riding. Based around Marin's modern Alpine Trail platform, it combines a tough Series 4 aluminum frame with 160 mm of rear travel, 170 mm up front and highly adjustable geometry. Compared with the Alpine Trail 1, the Alpine Trail 2 steps things up considerably with higher-spec suspension, drivetrain, brakes and wheel components, making it ready for aggressive riding straight out of the box.
At its heart is the Series 4 aluminum frame with Marin's MultiTrac LT suspension platform. The Horst-link design delivers 160 mm of rear travel and is tuned to balance sensitivity, support and progression. This gives the Alpine Trail 2 plenty of traction through technical terrain, support when pushing hard through corners and the reserves needed for bigger hits.
Marin pairs the frame with a high-performance RockShox suspension package. A RockShox ZEB Select+ fork with 170 mm of travel takes care of the front, while a custom-tuned RockShox Vivid Air Select+ controls the rear suspension. Together they provide the control and composure needed when the terrain gets fast, steep and rough.
One of the defining features of the Alpine Trail platform is its highly adjustable geometry. An adjustable headset allows the head angle to be altered by ±0.75°, while flip chips at the rear change bottom bracket height and chainstay length. This allows riders to tune the bike for different trails and riding styles, from maximum stability at speed to a more agile setup for tight and technical terrain.
The Alpine Trail 2 comes standard with a mixed-wheel setup featuring a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheel. The larger front wheel delivers stability and rollover performance, while the smaller rear wheel keeps the bike agile and playful. Alternatively, the Alpine Trail 2 can be converted to a full 29-inch setup. Combined with the adjustable headset and flip chips, the platform offers a wide range of possible geometry configurations.
Shifting is handled by a tough and precise SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type Transmission. The direct-mount rear derailleur is paired with a wide-range SRAM XG-1270 10–52T cassette and is designed for reliable performance under the high loads of aggressive mountain biking. A SRAM Eagle 70 DUB crankset completes the drivetrain.
Powerful SRAM Maven Bronze four-piston brakes provide the stopping power. With large 200 mm rotors front and rear, the Alpine Trail 2 delivers confident braking performance for long, fast and steep descents – exactly where a modern enduro bike needs to perform.
Marin also takes an uncompromising approach to tires. A Maxxis Assegai 29 x 2.5" with MAXXGRIP compound and EXO+ casing provides outstanding grip and precise control up front. At the rear, a Maxxis Minion DHR II 27.5 x 2.5" with MAXXTERRA compound and tough DoubleDown casing balances traction, durability and puncture protection. The Marin aluminum rims are tubeless compatible, while a DT Swiss 370 rear hub adds another quality component to the build.
An X-Fusion Manic HC dropper post also comes as standard. Its travel can be adjusted in 10 mm increments, with up to 200 mm depending on frame size. A wide 800 mm Marin Trail handlebar and short 35 mm CNC stem provide plenty of control and freedom of movement on technical descents.
Marin's integrated Bear Box downtube storage provides a practical place for tools and other trail essentials without the need for an additional bag. Full internal cable routing, SRAM UDH, Boost rear spacing and extensive chainstay protection further underline the frame's premium, trail-focused design.
The Marin Alpine Trail 2 is the ideal choice for riders who want the versatility of the Alpine Trail platform with a significantly higher-spec build straight from the factory. RockShox ZEB and Vivid suspension, SRAM Eagle Transmission, Maven four-piston brakes and the adaptable mixed-wheel/full-29" concept make it a serious enduro machine for fast, technical and demanding trails.
