Sigma – Bicycle Computers and Lighting from Germany

Sigma was founded in Germany in 1981 and specialises in bicycle computers, lighting systems and electronic accessories. The company name comes from the Greek letter Sigma, which is often used in mathematics and technology as a symbol for a sum or a totality. This choice of name was intended to convey technical precision and a systematic approach. Since its foundation the company has grown steadily and today offers a broad range of electronic components for cycling. Sigma has established a firm place in both the German and international bicycle accessory market over the decades.

The first Sigma products were mechanical bicycle speedometers that could measure speed and distance travelled. Over time the company expanded its range to include digital bicycle computers with ever more functions such as altimetry, heart rate monitoring and GPS. LED lighting systems for front and rear lights were added later. Today Sigma produces not only classic bicycle computers but also modern lighting solutions that rely on USB charging and offer different brightness levels.

Sigma products are sold in specialist bicycle shops, online stores and large sports chains in many countries. The exact number of sales outlets is in the low four-figure range across Europe. In Germany Sigma has a particularly strong presence thanks to close relationships with specialist retailers. Distribution takes place both through stationary shops and through numerous internet platforms.

Among the products on offer a choice can be made between individual lights and complete sets. The front lights differ in brightness, ranging from 35 to 80 lux, while the rear lights come in different designs such as Nugget, Blaze or Infinity. The sets combine a front light with a matching rear light and are often more affordable than buying each item separately. All models use LED technology and are charged via USB cable.

  • Sigma LED Front Light AURA 35 Black – a compact front light with 35 lux brightness and USB charging, purchased individually and suitable for city traffic and well-lit paths. Unlike the sets it is delivered without a rear light.
  • Sigma LED Light Set Aura 35/Nugget II Black – an entry-level set consisting of the AURA 35 front light and the small Nugget II rear light. It provides sufficient illumination for short rides at dusk and is the most affordable set in the range.
  • Sigma LED Light Set Aura 60/Infinity Black – a set with the 60 lux AURA 60 front light and the slim Infinity rear light. The brightness sits between the 35-lux and 80-lux variants, and the rear light is more streamlined than the Nugget II.
  • Sigma LED Light Set Aura 80/Blaze Black – the most powerful set with an 80 lux front light and the Blaze rear light. The AURA 80 is the brightest front light available and is also suitable for unlit country roads, while the Blaze rear light features a particularly large illuminated surface.
  • Sigma LED Rear Light Blaze Black – a single rear light with a wide, highly visible LED surface that serves as a retrofit or replacement for the Blaze model from the sets. It is more expensive than the Nugget II but cheaper than the Infinity.
  • Sigma LED Rear Light Infinity Black – a slim, elegant rear light with a continuous LED strip, sold individually and visually distinct from the more compact Nugget II and Blaze models. It offers multiple light modes and is the most expensive single rear light.
  • Sigma LED Rear Light Nugget II Black – a small, compact drop-shaped rear light that can be purchased individually and is the most affordable of all Sigma rear lights on the page. It is suitable as a secondary light or for riders who prefer a discreet rear light.
