Enable Youtube videos"Cool garnet red" – that is how this WILHELM XIV can be described in one word. The strong red makes the elegantly curved AL6061-T6 frame of the custom bicycle stand out immediately in the urban hustle and bustle. But there is far more behind it than beautiful optics: The sealed Rohloff Speedhub with 14 gears is a high-performance gearbox made in Germany that guarantees a long service life even under extreme conditions. Together with a high-quality belt drive and elegant style, exactly this combination makes the WILHELM XIV top class – a modern statement for everyday life.
The Rohloff Speedhub works in the rear wheel and offers a total gear range of 526 per cent with evenly spaced gear steps. All 14 gears can be shifted individually one after another or skipping several gears in both directions; the shifter works with two shift cables. As a purist tourer with state-of-the-art technology, the WILHELM XIV is sporty and efficient at the same time: The Gates carbon belt (60 teeth at the front, 22 at the rear) and the Rohloff gearing harmonise perfectly, and the hydraulic Formula R1 disc brake system with 160-millimetre rotors delivers strong braking performance even on hills. The geometry is based on Schindelhauer's uncompromising singlespeed frame, but has been subtly adapted: a lower bottom bracket, longer head tube, longer fork and an extended top tube result in a relaxed, tour-ready seating position. At 11.3 kilogrammes, the model is also the lightest in the series. Saddle (Brooks B17), mudguards, LightSKIN seat post and more can be configured individually according to your wishes; the frame carries a 5-year warranty.
WILHELM is the custom bicycle system from Schindelhauer, which is built entirely according to your wishes. XIV stands in Roman numerals for the fourteen and marks the 14 gears of the Rohloff Speedhub. ROHLOFF, in turn, reveals that one of the most renowned hub gears in the world works in the rear wheel – developed and built in Germany. The last part of the name denotes the colour of the paintwork that gives this model its unmistakable character.
While the WILHELM XII and the WILHELM XVIII rely on the Pinion principle shifting from the gearbox housing in the bottom bracket area, the WILHELM XIV uses the Rohloff Speedhub as a sealed hub gear in the rear wheel. This makes the 14 gears extremely low-maintenance and, thanks to the 526 per cent gear range, the evenly spaced steps keep the right gear ready for every riding situation – from a quick city ride to a steep mountain pass. In addition, the elegant sports bike is characterised by the Formula R1 brake system and the sporty, tour-ready geometry based on the uncompromising singlespeed frame. Anyone who values lasting robustness and confident hill performance is in the right place here.
The WILHELM XIV ROHLOFF is aimed at everyone looking for a highly emotional, purist bicycle for challenging routes: whether on the daily commute, quick laps through the city or extended tours with climbs – the Rohloff technology with 14 gears and the good hill qualities of the brake make almost any route a pleasure. Belt drive and sealed gearbox keep maintenance low and service life high. Mudguards, front and rear racks and a stand can be mounted, lighting is optional – so the bicycle can be tailored exactly to your everyday life. Such individuality deserves to be experienced: Best of all, arrange a test ride with us straight away.
