Enable Youtube videosAs white as oiled cream over a sporty core: the WILHELM XII P-LINE in cream-white combines individuality, design and top technology. The P-Line range is Schindelhauer's city custom bicycle series, and this version wears its paintwork like a tailor-made jacket – clear, purist and pleasingly restrained in an urban appearance. Beneath the light shell lies the claim of the top class: a CNC-milled Pinion P-Line with twelve gears, built for the highest demands. The minimalist frame made of AL6061-T6 with an aero-shape tube set, triple butted and with smoothed welds, joins in, along with the well-thought-out details of the Berlin manufactory. The result is less a bicycle, more a piece of character for the street.
With the Pinion gearbox mounted centrally in the frame, the WILHELM XII P-LINE is optimally balanced – and each of the twelve gears conveys the directness of a singlespeed ratio. The low bottom bracket as well as long head tubes and top tubes provide a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position. In the service of the purist design, all cables are routed internally, keeping the frame line clean. The drive consists of the low-maintenance Gates Carbon belt (39 teeth at the front, 28 at the rear); braking is handled by the hydraulic Shimano Alfine S7000 system with 160-millimetre rotors. Comfort is taken care of by the Brooks Swallow Classic saddle and the ergonomic Schindelhauer leather grips. With a permissible total weight of 120 kilogrammes and mounting points for mudguards and front and rear racks, the bicycle is ready for everyday use; lighting can be added as an option.
Behind WILHELM XII P-LINE lies a modular concept in which individuality is written in capitals: WILHELM is the personalised custom bicycle that is assembled according to your own wishes – from colour and mudguards to lighting. XII names the twelve gears in Roman numerals. P-LINE denotes the premium gearbox line from Pinion, chosen for this model for its CNC-milled precision and particularly refined components. Finally, cream-white describes the light, warm paintwork that lends the bicycle a restrainedly elegant expression.
A fair question – after all, both bear the Roman twelve. The difference lies in the heart of the drivetrain: while the C-Line version also uses a Pinion unit, the P-Line brings the CNC-milled gearbox line that Schindelhauer reserves for even more demanding configurations. There is also the equipment: on the P-Line model, a Brooks Swallow Classic saddle sits on the Schindelhauer seat post, and the fine-toothed rear hub from Schindelhauer rounds off the high-quality overall picture. In the cream-white paintwork, the bicycle also deliberately keeps its distance from the purist aluminium look and appears exceptionally elegant in the street scene.
This Wilhelm appeals to everyone who understands their bicycle as an expression of their own style and still does not want to do without well-thought-out technology. In the city, the central gearbox position makes it pleasantly agile and well balanced; on longer rides, the sporty yet tour-ready seating position and the comfortable Brooks saddle pamper the rider. Whether as a daily commuting partner, as a design statement in the evening or as a companion for weekend trips – the WILHELM XII P-LINE cuts an equally elegant and confident figure everywhere. And because every bicycle is tailor-made to personal wishes in small quantities, the choice of colours, mudguards and further accessories remains deliberately open. A test ride is then the best way to find out how good this premium bicycle feels.
