The Schindelhauer WILHELM Singlespeed delivers minimalist design, a low-maintenance belt drive, and agile performance. Perfect for urban riders who value style, efficiency, and uncompromising speed.
The Wilhelm is a custom bike that is built to order. Unfortunately, we don't have pictures of all versions. In the single-speed version offered here, the bike comes with drop handlebars. The first picture with straight handlebars is for illustrating the color only!

Enable Youtube videosOne bicycle, one gear, one feeling: As a singlespeed, the WILHELM SSP is the most concentrated form of the Schindelhauer custom bicycle. In alu pur, the sleek commuter presents itself purist in design and uncompromising in dynamics – ideal for urban riders who want style, performance and directness in one bicycle. Instead of gears and gearbox, the Wilhelm relies on the pure ratio, a low-maintenance belt drive and the unadulterated pedalling feel that only singlespeed riding conveys.
Propulsion is provided by the Gates carbon belt (60 teeth at the front, 22 at the rear) on the fine-toothed Schindelhauer rear hub – powerful, quiet and long-lasting. Deceleration is handled by the hydraulic TRP Hylex disc brake, whose levers work lightly and grip well thanks to their drilled hole pattern. The low bottom bracket and long head and top tubes create a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position; all cables are routed internally. At just 9.8 kilogrammes, the WILHELM SSP is the lightest model of the entire series, and the noble Brooks leather combination of B17 saddle and bar tape rounds off the concept. Mudguards and front and rear racks can be mounted; the permissible total weight is 120 kilogrammes.
WILHELM is the custom bicycle system from Schindelhauer, built entirely according to your wishes. SSP stands for singlespeed: a bicycle without gear shifting that rides with a fixed ratio and thereby offers maximum directness and minimal maintenance. The suffix alu pur describes the silvery, raw aluminium look of the frame, which perfectly underlines the purist concept.
While the Wilhelms with IX, XII, XIV, XVIII and their gearboxes cover the broad gear selection, the SSP deliberately does without any shifting. That is exactly what makes it so appealing: fewer components, less weight, less maintenance – and a more immediate riding feel than any geared model. The Gates carbon belt drive with fine-toothed hub stands for durability, while the sporty geometry ensures directness. Anyone looking for a no-frills urban bicycle will find the most concentrated statement of the series in the WILHELM SSP.
The WILHELM SSP is aimed at urban riders who want to combine a flat environment and short distances with pure dynamics: whether as a lifestyle statement on the way to work or as a sleek second bicycle for the evening ride – the singlespeed convinces through simple handling and an incomparable feel at the pedal. Thanks to mounting options for mudguards and racks, it remains suitable for everyday use. Since Schindelhauer produces in small quantities, an early test ride is the best recommendation – get in touch with us and we will be happy to present the bicycle.
