Enable Youtube videosSporty, individual and innovative bicycles are born in Schindelhauer's Berlin manufactory – the WILHELM IX P-LINE in cream-white is the most elegant proof of these three words. The light, warmly shimmering paintwork lends the city custom bicycle a timeless refinement beneath which a technical core of the top class is hidden: a CNC-milled Pinion P-Line with nine gears, built for extreme demands. Together, Schindelhauer and Pinion here embody the claim of the premium class – in everyday urban life, on weekend tours and everywhere a bicycle is meant to be more than just a means of transport.
Technically, the WILHELM IX P-LINE reflects the qualities of the entire Wilhelm family: the gear unit sits centrally in the frame and keeps the bicycle optimally balanced; nine evenly graduated gears with 364 per cent total range take you over almost any hill and feel as direct as a singlespeed – shifting while stationary also works reliably. A low bottom bracket as well as long head tubes and top tubes create a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position; all cables are puristically routed internally. The low-maintenance Gates Carbon belt (39 teeth at the front, 28 at the rear) transfers power to the fine-toothed rear hub, while the hydraulic Shimano Alfine S7000 disc brake decelerates reliably with 160-millimetre rotors. The Brooks Swallow Classic saddle and the ergonomic Schindelhauer leather grips complete the refined appearance. Thanks to 120 kilogrammes of permissible total weight, mounting points for mudguards and front and rear racks, and optional lighting, the bicycle is flexibly deployable from commuter companion to evening ride.
WILHELM gives the range its highly personal character: bicycle and colour, equipment and details are assembled individually for every customer. IX is the Roman nine and names the number of gears. P-LINE stands for the CNC-milled gearbox line from Pinion, which is traded as the top class among bicycle transmissions. Finally, cream-white describes the gentle, warm paintwork that gives this Wilhelm its calm yet self-confident appearance.
Both versions share frame, gearbox and equipment – visually, they differ above all in the surface. While the raw aluminium sister convinces with cool, bare technology, the cream-white variant shows a warmer, softer appearance that comes into its own particularly in bright cityscapes or in front of calm architecture. Nothing changes in the riding behaviour: the proportions, the central gearbox position and the tour-ready geometry are identical – only the character conveyed by the colour is different.
This variant is aimed at people who want to combine style and technology in a single bicycle – and who prefer a colour that suits any weather and any outfit. In the city, the Wilhelm stays pleasantly stable thanks to the centrally mounted gear unit; on longer rides, the sporty tour-ready seating position convinces. The diamond frame appeals to everyone who likes it classic, while mudguards, racks, lighting and the 120-kilogramme payload capacity ensure relaxed everyday suitability. The most exciting part is the personal configuration anyway: colour and equipment can be tailored exactly to you on request – whether for everyday use or a representative appearance, a competent consultation at Radfieber will clarify most quickly which variant suits you best.
