The WILHELM GRAVEL Di2 in midnight blue is Schindelhauer's cross custom bicycle for bikepacking and crossriding – with electronic shifting and a calm, dark paintwork that almost blends into the background at dusk. The bicycle is driven by the low-maintenance carbon belt, shifted via the Shimano Alfine Di2 hub gear with eleven gears: precise, fast and comfortable, even on night rides over gravel and field paths.

The triple-butted AL6061-T6 frame with aero-shape tube set and internal cable routing carries the hydraulic Shimano GRX disc brake on 160-millimetre discs; shifting happens via the GRX shift lever. The Brooks Cambium C17 saddle and Cambium bar tape cushion long stages, and the Continental Terra Trail tyre provides grip in the wide 40-622 dimension. At 11.6 kilogrammes, the gravel stays slim, and mountable mudguards, front and rear racks and optional lighting make it an all-rounder. The permissible total weight is 120 kilogrammes.

What WILHELM, GRAVEL and Di2 stand for

WILHELM is the custom bicycle system from Schindelhauer, whose bicycles are built individually according to your wishes. GRAVEL describes the cross and bikepacking variant for mixed terrain between asphalt and gravel. Di2 stands for the electronic Shimano shifting: the eleven gears of the Alfine hub gear are controlled via a button on the GRX lever – clean, fast and effortless. The deep, dark blue of the frame edition is called mitternachtsblau.

Why electronics change the ride

With the Di2 hub gear, fiddling with the derailleur is a thing of the past: the gears sit protected in the rear hub, shift at the touch of a button and remain precise even under load. The low bottom bracket and long head and top tubes provide a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position. Those who like to start into the dusk will also appreciate the quiet, low-maintenance drive – no gear clatter, no belt spray, just the rolling sound on the surface.
