The WILHELM GRAVEL C-Line Smart.Shift in cream white is Schindelhauer's custom bicycle for crossriding and bikepacking – with the comfortable contrast of a warm, light look and a high-tech drivetrain. The heart of the bicycle is the 12-gear Pinion gearbox, which shifts via the electronic Smart.Shift system with just a light press of a button in 0.2 seconds. Those who appreciate elegance but do not want to compromise on technology are in the right place.

The drive runs over the low-maintenance Gates carbon belt (39 teeth at the front, 28 at the rear) onto the fine-toothed Schindelhauer rear hub. The low bottom bracket and long head and top tubes create a sporty, yet tour-ready seating position; braking and shifting are handled by TRP HyWire components. Brooks Cambium C17 saddle and Cambium bar tape, Continental Terra Trail tyres in 40-622 and internal cable routing round off the equipment. At 12.6 kilogrammes, the gearbox gravel is more solidly built but wears less; mountable mudguards, front and rear racks and optional lighting make it an everyday and touring bicycle. The permissible total weight is 120 kilogrammes.

What WILHELM, GRAVEL and Smart.Shift stand for

WILHELM is the custom bicycle system from Schindelhauer, in which every bicycle is built individually. GRAVEL names the variant for crossriding and bikepacking on routes between road and terrain. Smart.Shift is the electronic shifting of the Pinion C-Line gearbox: twelve gears, shifted at the push of a button in 0.2 seconds. The colour addition sahneweiß describes the light, warm cream tone of the paintwork.

Why the light look is no contradiction

A delicate cream white might seem unusual under dust and mud – precisely for this reason it is a statement for well-kept technology. But the real trick lies in the drivetrain: the gearbox unit sits low and protected, the electronics shift independent of effort and pedal position, and the belt stays clean. This way, the gravel combines the best of both worlds: a flawless appearance in the morning, reliable shifting into the evening.
