Schindelhauer Siegfried in cream white – just one ride is all it takes to glide through the city with a sporty, stylish, minimalist look. The exceptionally quiet Gates carbon belt ensures a smooth, quiet drive. Thanks to the flip-flop hub, the bike can be ridden as either a fixed-gear or single-speed bike. The curved fork, Brooks leather details, and polished components give the bike an elegant, minimalist overall look.

The Shimano Alfine crankset and the belt drive system form an excellent combination—at the same time, they serve as a visual highlight that significantly shapes the bike’s character. The patented Schindelhauer Belt Port System makes the dropout opening (almost) invisible and makes changing the belt a breeze.

The frame of Siegfried rests on an Aero-Shape tube set of triple-butted AL6061-T6 aluminium: wall thicknesses alternate between sturdy and slim along the tubes, so material sits exactly where forces demand it. The forged horizontal dropout carries the Crocodile belt tensioning system and the Belt Port, which makes the opening in the dropout almost invisible and turns changing the belt into an easy task – the silhouette stays clean while busy technology works underneath. Integrated seat post clamp, internal cable routing and ground-smooth welds continue that line without interruption, while the curved aluminium fork compresses gently and holds its course.

One gear is entirely enough for Siegfried: the Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt with 60 teeth at the front and 22 at the rear lays power onto the rear wheel quietly, evenly and without chain grease. Since nothing is shifted, the line of force runs unbroken from the pedal stroke to the wheel – making this drivetrain not only virtually maintenance-free but also noticeably efficient. The flip-flop hub with a second sprocket transforms Siegfried in one motion: freewheel for relaxed gliding, fixed gear for a direct pull on the pedals. Shimano Alfine Hollowtech II crank and matching BSA bottom bracket form the stable foundation this system runs on.

Comfort comes from the aluminium moon bar combined with the Brooks Swift saddle on its chrome frame and the Brooks leather bar tape – a set of contact points that stays smooth even after many kilometres and places the hands in a natural, slightly raised position. Tektro R539 brakes with Tektro FL750 levers meter stopping power finely from any grip position, the wheelset of Alexrims CX30 rims and Sapim Race spokes (laced radially and three-cross) puts drivetrain impulses onto the road without lag, and the Continental Grand Prix tyres (28-622) blend speed with pleasant damping. At 8.6 kilograms of weight and a total permitted load of 120 kilograms including the bike, plus mounting points for mudguards, a front rack and a lighting system, Siegfried becomes a companion for everyday life and light tours with luggage.

How Siegfried got its name

Behind the name stands the greatest saga of the German-speaking world: "Siegfried" combines the Old High German elements "sieg" and "fried" – victory and peace, the one who wins every trial and brings calm at the end. That double meaning shapes the bike: understated in appearance, unshakeable in performance. As a name for a bike that rides through town with a single gear, the figure fits, because it stands not for equipment but for attitude. The name promises what the technology delivers: unstoppable momentum without ever getting loud.

How it differs from Siegfried Road and the rest of the family

Siegfried and Siegfried Road share frame structure, fork, belt drivetrain, flip-flop hub and Brooks pairing – they are told apart by cockpit and tyres. This model carries the aluminium moon bar for upright, relaxed riding and the wider Continental Grand Prix tyres (28-622) that smooth out bumps more gracefully; Siegfried Road, in turn, relies on a drop bar with leather tape, TRP RRL road levers and the narrower Grand Prix Classic tyres (25-622) for maximum drive. A third expression is "Siegfried super refined": a handcrafted limited edition of five bikes in which every weld was ground and polished by hand. In short: Siegfried is the relaxed everyday version, Siegfried Road the athletic one.

What Siegfried is intended for – also in comparison to other Schindelhauer series

Siegfried is made for demanding urban everyday use: brisk commuting, errands, evening laps, all held in a line that stays sportily upright and keeps the view clear in traffic. Here a single geared belt is exactly the right tool, because it combines calm, cleanliness and instant response – unlike the fully equipped models Friedrich or Ludwig, which with an internal gear hub plus optional mudguards, rack and lighting are set up for weather and load. Wilhelm with Pinion gearbox and gravel geometry instead heads for terrain and long distances, while Arthur as an e-bike covers the route with motor support. And Siegfried Road addresses everyone who wants more speed with drop bar and narrow tyres. Siegfried remains the choice when reduction to the essentials is the real luxury.
