Schindelhauer Siegfried Alu pur – a single gear is all you need to ride through the city with sporty style and make a purist, stylish statement. The exceptionally quiet Gates Carbon belt ensures a smooth, clean drive. Thanks to the flip-flop hub, the bike can be ridden as both a fixed-gear and a single-speed. A curved fork, Brooks leather accents, and polished components create an elegant, minimalist overall look.
The Shimano Alfine crankset and the belt drive system form an excellent combination—at the same time, they serve as a visual highlight that decisively shapes the bike’s character. The patented Schindelhauer Belt Port System makes the dropout opening (almost) invisible and makes changing the belt a breeze.

Enable Youtube videosThe alu pur version shows Siegfried exactly as it is: its AL6061-T6 frame stays in its untreated aluminium surface, the triple-butted Aero-Shape tubes joined over ground-smooth welds into a calm, clean silhouette. The forged horizontal dropout carries the Crocodile tensioning system with the Belt Port, which makes the opening almost invisible and turns changing the belt into an easy task; integrated seat clamp and internal cable routing keep the line tidy. Curved aluminium fork, Brooks Swift saddle on its chrome frame, leather bar tape and the aluminium moon bar place the contact points in a relaxed, slightly raised position, while Alexrims CX30 rims with radially and three-cross laced Sapim Race spokes, Tektro R539 brakes with FL750 levers and Continental Grand Prix tyres (28-622) join speed with control. Mounting points for mudguards, a front rack and lighting are all there, and 8.6 kilograms of weight with a permitted total load of 120 kilograms make it an uncomplicated companion for every day.
This is where the special part lies: two sprockets sit on the flip-flop rear hub, so you switch between freewheel and fixed gear simply by taking the wheel off and turning it around – same drivetrain, two characters. In freewheel mode Siegfried glides quietly through the city and lets the legs rest on descents; in fixie mode a continuous connection between pedal and rear wheel feeds braking energy back through the legs and makes the bike feel directly attached to you. The Gates Carbon Drive CDX (60 teeth front, 22 teeth rear, 115 links) transmits power in a straight line and without chain grease, the Shimano Alfine Hollowtech II crank on the BSA bottom bracket forms the solid foundation, and with no gears in between every bit of pedalling reaches the drivetrain immediately – a combination of belt, hub, wheel and tyre built for straight-line efficiency and virtually no maintenance.
"Siegfried" combines the Old High German words "sieg" and "fried" – victory and peace, the victor who brings calm in the end. That makes the name more than a stylish label: it describes an attitude this bike fills exactly, because it rides unassumingly yet unstoppably through everyday life without ever getting loud. As one of the founding figures of the Berlin brand, Siegfried carries that stance in its name, the same stance the technology embodies – reduction to the essentials and the conviction that less can achieve more.
The alu pur version is distinguished above all by its surface: the untreated aluminium appeared at Eurobike 2009 as the stage on which the brand presented its looks, and it still gives the bike its raw, brushed face, while cream white and midnight blue show the same construction in paint. Siegfried Road shares frame, fork and drivetrain but relies on a drop bar with leather tape, TRP RRL road levers and narrower Continental Grand Prix Classic tyres (25-622) for more drive. The limited "Siegfried super refined" edition goes one step further: five bikes in which every weld was ground and polished by hand. The underlying idea stays the same in all three – the differences lie in cockpit, surface and refinement.
The task of Siegfried alu pur is everyday riding with a sporty claim: the daily route to the office, errands on the way home, spontaneous laps through the city – always in a riding position that gives an overview at the traffic light and keeps the view clear. The belt drive shines throughout: no oil on trouser legs, no chain rattle early in the morning, almost no maintenance, and thanks to the flip-flop function the riding style adapts to the moment – freewheel for relaxed gliding, fixed for a direct link to the wheel. Those carrying luggage mount a front rack and mudguards effortlessly, lighting can be added optionally, and at 8.6 kilograms the bike walks comfortably up to the third floor. On longer rides Brooks leather and the generous tyres provide comfort, so a city lap can easily become distance.
