The Schindelhauer Neo Classic combines the compact and agile Neo platform with a particularly refined specification. Because the entire shifting mechanism is protected inside the hub, the system remains reliable, durable and low-maintenance even under daily use.

Power is transferred through a Gates Carbon Drive belt system. Compared to a conventional chain, the belt runs almost silently, requires no lubrication and keeps both the bicycle and rider's clothing clean. Neo's name: breaking with the first-name tradition

Schindelhauer has named its models after German first names for years – the series began with Siegfried, to which Viktor, Ludwig, Friedrich and Frieda, Lotte, Gustav and Greta were added, followed later by Karl, Heinrich, Hannah, Oskar, Arthur, Antonia, Emil and Emilia. This naming followed a simple rule: male names for frames with a top tube, female ones for step-through designs, always paired with the idea of German production for worldwide export to more than 30 countries.

As of June 2026, that no longer applies: with the introduction of Neo, the company picks a term instead of a first name for the very first time. “Neos” comes from Greek and means “new” – a pointer to the freshly launched compact 20-inch format from Berlin. The title now sums up an idea rather than a person: an unselfconscious way of experiencing the city by bike, which Schindelhauer captures in the words “Shortcut to the playground” – the city becomes a playground, everyday life an upgrade.
