Whether you’re out on a cycle tour or in town – weighing just 10.2 kg and featuring the Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub gear, this all-round bike with a low step-through frame will get you to your destination in comfort. Instead of a traditional chain, the low-maintenance Gates Carbon Drive belt ensures a smooth, quiet and dynamic ride.
With a gear ratio range of 307%, the 8-speed hub offers plenty of scope for a wide variety of terrain. The ratchet-free freewheel operates almost silently and complements the quiet belt drive perfectly.

Enable Youtube videosThe backbone of Lotte is an AL6061-T6 aluminium frame with a triple-butted Aero-Shape tube set. Forged dropouts with a slider tensioning system and the Schindelhauer Belt Port hold the drive belt at exact tension, while internal cable routing, an integrated seat clamp and smoothed welds keep the silhouette calm and uncluttered. The curved aluminium fork works with the Lotte geometry – lowered top tube, taller head tube and a bottom bracket set deeper – to deliver an upright, relaxed riding position that still holds up over long distances.
Power is transferred by the maintenance-free Gates Carbon Drive CDX CenterTrack belt: 55 teeth at the crank, 22 at the rear wheel and 115 links. It runs quietly, stays clean and continues the near-silent work of the ratchet-free freewheel. Paired with the Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub gear, it produces a drivetrain with eight gears and 307 % range – enough reserves to cover steep climbs as well as fast stretches with a tailwind. The hollow axle of the Alfine crank sits stiffly together with the external bearings exactly as the belt requires: crank, hub and belt interlock and keep power transfer direct, calm and almost noiseless.
Versatility comes from the mounting points: lighting can be added as an option, and mudguards, a kickstand as well as front and rear racks are all ready to be fitted – with racks and bags the agile city bike turns into a touring companion capable of multi-day trips with luggage. On top of that sit the Brooks B17 S Lady saddle, the hand-stitched Ergo leather grips and the Moon bar for a controlled riding position, the CNC-machined Schindelhauer Urban pedals and the Continental Contact II tires with a reflective stripe for visibility after dark. The Tektro brakes and a weight of around 10.5 kilograms complete the package – light enough to carry up the stairs, solid enough for daily use.
Lotte is an old, familiar German first name, essentially a short form of Charlotte. It sets a certain tone: straightforward, dependable and touched by classic elegance – the same qualities conveyed by the frame, the leather saddle and the understated cream-white colour note. Like the other models in the range, the name is written in capitals and is complemented by a further component of the product name, the colour designation sahneweiß, which describes the paintwork of this bike. The first name gives the machine a personality instead of a technical abbreviation: a configuration becomes a character you can relate to – a human counterpart to a bicycle that behaves calmly and predictably.
As the sibling of the sportier Ludwig, Lotte shares the singlespeed-based frame design but deliberately departs from it: the lowered top tube, taller head tube and deeper bottom bracket turn the sporty base into a relaxed, touring-ready position. Where Ludwig stays the more uncompromising, dynamic variant, Lotte opts for the Shimano Alfine eight-speed hub and the Gates belt as an everyday drive. Across the wider Schindelhauer range the difference becomes even clearer: models such as Hannah ENVIOLO work with continuously variable hub shifting, whereas Lotte deliberately sticks to a clearly stepped eight-speed hub – an extra spread of gears that leaves plenty of room in urban terrain and on light tours without complicating operation.
Lotte is built for routes that shift between daily routine and leisure: the ride to work, errands around town, an unhurried training session or a day out in the countryside. The low-entry version makes it a versatile companion, because stepping on and off stays effortless at frequent stops – exactly where it differs from the high-frame sport models of the manufacturer. At the same time Lotte is laid out as the female counterpart to Ludwig, complemented by the anatomy-specific Brooks B17 S Lady saddle. With mudguards, lights and racks added, the bike grows into a lightweight trekking and bikepacking partner, while in its base form it stays reduced and light. Frame form, belt drive and hub gear combine into a bike that asks for little attention in everyday life and delivers reliably on tour.
