Enable Youtube videosOn the HEKTOR in chameleon finish, the colour shifts depending on the light – a design that catches the eye on the racetrack as well as in the city. Technically, the bike remains true to the uncompromising Fixed Gear approach: the triple-butted aluminium frame (AL6061-T6) with smoothed welds is carried by a straight carbon monocoque fork and forms the base for the Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt. Exactly one gear ratio is available: 60 teeth at the front to 21 teeth at the rear (track threading) convert leg power immediately into forward motion – while the belt runs quietly, dry and without any maintenance products. Because sprocket and hub are rigidly connected, cadence alone determines the pace; the flip-flop rear hub keeps an alternative ratio ready on the opposite side. Schindelhauer low-flange hubs, Alexrims CX30 rims, Sapim Race spokes and Continental Ultrasport III tyres complete the stiff, lightweight wheelset. Internal cable routing, the Belt Port and an integrated seat clamp keep the build tidy, while optional Urban Pedals with pedal straps round off the purist overall picture.
Hektor goes back to the Trojan hero of Greek mythology, whose name stands for the highest art of combat. The model carries this ambition within itself: achieving top performance on the velodrome while remaining composed. The second element of the name, Fixed Gear, describes the direct power transmission – a bike without a freewheel, in which sprocket and hub form a single unit and muscular force is turned directly into movement.
The HEKTOR series comprises two models with the same frame concept: triple-butted aero tubing, a carbon fork and the Gates belt. The differences appear in the hub and the braking equipment. The Fixed Gear version holds on to the most rigid ratio and puts the riding experience completely at the centre. The Singlespeed version adds a freewheel and a Tektro brake system, opening up the same foundation for busy everyday life. Each variant thus appeals to its own circle of riding enthusiasts.
HEKTOR finds its first spiritual home on the velodrome and the criterium course, where the stiff geometry and the direct belt drive deliver the decisive advantages. Even away from the racetrack, the rigid concept delights because pace and braking are fully controlled through the pedals. This way, HEKTOR occupies the sporty track segment in the Schindelhauer portfolio, while the Wilhelm, Hannah and Siegfried lines cover the comfortable side with their city, trekking and gravel models. With the Fixed Gear, every purist gains the most direct connection to their own skills; the Singlespeed version adds extra everyday comfort for more intensive rides on the go.
