As a single-speed bike, Heinrich does not need gears, as this is impressively compensated for by the powerful Bosch Performance Line CX (85 Nm) motor, complete with a 500 Wh Bosch battery. With the maintenance-free carbon belt drive, you can reliably transfer the full power. This city e-bike has a Supernova lighting system, fully integrated into the handlebars and seat post.
As with all Schindelhauer models, the complex in-house development of the frame guarantees sporty cornering behaviour – something you would not expect from an e-bike with a mid-drive motor. The drive unit and battery are integrated as compactly and elegantly as possible without compromising on functionality or stability.
What makes this bike special is digital. As a Bosch Smart System bike, the Heinrich can be connected to the smartphone via the eBike Flow app, allowing riding dynamics to be customised, personal profiles to be created and over-the-air updates to be installed. If you wish, you can additionally equip it with the Bosch ConnectModule and obtain GPS theft protection that transmits the location of the bike. Display and operation are handled by the Kiox display in combination with a wireless LED remote. That puts this bike technically up to date – and keeps it there.
Torque comes from the Bosch Performance CX from the Smart System: 250 watts nominal power and 85 Nm, supporting up to 25 km/h. This performance class is the highest Schindelhauer has yet installed in a Heinrich, and it is the reason this bike manages without gears. Where the simpler SSP models work with 50 or 65 Nm, here the torque compensates for the missing gear count so masterfully that traffic light starts, headwind and steep climbs require no thought. Energy comes from the Bosch PowerTube 500 with 500 Wh of capacity. The bike can also be ridden problem-free with the motor switched off.
It is ridden via a single Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt with 55 teeth at the front, 20 at the rear and 120 teeth in total. This fixed ratio works without oil, without stretch and without re-tensioning, and it continues to work reliably even at a standstill, so pulling away on a hill works without a hanging chain or a slipping gear. The belt sits in the specially developed Belt Port of the dropout, which is secured by a slide tensioning system.
The AL6061-T6 aluminium frame is the familiar Schindelhauer construction: a triple-butted tube set, a forged motor mount, a multi-cell down tube, a forged dropout with slide tensioning system and Belt Port, an integrated saddle clamp, internal cable routing and smoothed welds, with a five-year warranty. This complex in-house development encloses motor and battery as compactly as possible without losing functionality or stability, and gives the mid-drive bike sporty cornering behaviour. The fork is hydroformed aluminium with a tapered profile, post-mount brake mount and 15 mm thru-axle; the headset is an integrated Acros ICR 1.5".
Lighting is fully integrated, as on all models in the range: the Supernova Mini 2 headlight is hidden in the handlebar, the tail light sits as an LED in the LightSKIN seatpost, and both are powered from the e-bike battery. Mudguards can be fitted, and mounting points are provided for the front rack. A lock holder can be attached beneath the top tube, a frame lock can also be mounted, and a child seat can be attached to the seat tube. The Hebie 663 FIX18 side stand is part of the equipment.
Equipment is correspondingly high-quality at this top level: Shimano Alfine S7000 hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors, 47 mm wide WTB Horizon tyres with reflective stripes on 27.5-inch Alexrims EXR25 rims with eyelets, Sapim Strong spokes three-cross laced, Schindelhauer high-flange DISC hubs, the Selle Royal Essenza Plus Athletics saddle, the Satori Noirette handlebar, the Satori Stealth stem, the Miranda Delta crankset, CNC-machined Schindelhauer Urban Pedal in aluminium and screw-on Schindelhauer grips. Weight is 19.7 kg in size M; the permissible total weight of bike, rider and luggage is 155 kg.
Heinrich – the name of the series. The brand uses first names that sound Old High German and organises them by a system with a direct technical consequence: male names stand for the diamond frame, female names for the step-through frame. Heinrich is therefore the closed version with a top tube; the female counterpart Hannah carries the same technology with a swan neck and a low step-through.
SSP – the abbreviation for SingleSpeed and thus the marking of the reduced version: fixed belt, fixed ratio, no gears. The same series also contains the Alfine version with eight gears and the enviolo version with a stepless hub; the name suffix always names the gear concept of the same basic construction.
Bosch Smart – the marking of the digital generation. It means that motor, battery, display and controls no longer work individually but as a networked system: Kiox display, LED remote, smartphone connection via the eBike Flow app, over-the-air updates and ConnectModule preparation for GPS theft protection. In this constellation the most powerful motor model is also installed, the Performance CX with 85 Nm.
Graphitschwarz – the colour variant. A deep, matt black which, together with dark rims, black add-on parts and dark tyres, forms an evenly calm surface. Perlblau, titansilber and granatrot are also available in the Heinrich family.
Frame, fork, belt, wheels, tyres and weight are the same across all three singlespeed variants – 19.7 kg in size M in each case. The motor is the difference, and it is a large one.
The Bosch Smart presented here with 85 Nm represents the top of the range and is the only variant with the full Smart System including Kiox and LED remote. Compared with the SSP Performance Line at 65 Nm and the SSP Active Line Plus at 50 Nm, it offers not only more torque but an entire operating level: profiles, updates, app. The rest of the equipment is also higher – Shimano Alfine S7000 hydraulic brakes instead of Formula CURA, Sapim Strong spokes, a Selle Royal saddle and an Acros ICR headset. Compared with the geared siblings with an eight-speed or stepless hub, the bike nevertheless remains the lightest in its family: no shifting mechanism, no shifting action, no additional weight – instead full torque and digital functions.
The choice is therefore between maximum equipment and maximum simplicity – and the bike attempts to offer both. Anyone looking for pure mechanics is well served by the SSP with Performance Line, anyone looking for the balanced entry-level model by the Active Line Plus. Here technology is in the foreground: those who actively use the Kiox display, install updates and configure the app get the full benefit. And those who do not still have 85 Nm and the lightest construction in the series.
This variant is aimed at everyone who does not just want to ride a bike but also adjust and extend it. The profile in the smartphone is more than a gimmick: on a bike with 85 Nm and the option to configure the assistance levels, it is a genuine setting option for your own riding style. Anyone who adds the ConnectModule additionally gets GPS theft protection, which makes sense for a bike of this class and value.
The basic equipment remains that of a lightweight city bike: 19.7 kg in size M, a diamond frame with sporty cornering behaviour, the carbon belt that requires no maintenance, the fully integrated lighting system and the Hebie side stand for brief stops along the way. Mudguards and front rack can be fitted, the frame lock is prepared, and a child seat finds its place at the seat tube. The interior equipment remains a certified frame with a hand brake, so even the smallest rider stops safely.
The classification within the Heinrich family is clear: this is the digital top model. Compared with the Alfine and enviolo versions, which come with gears plus Active Line Plus or Performance Line and have mudguards as standard, the Bosch Smart is the more modern but also more reduced bike – without standard mudguards, but with full torque, app and networking. Against the other series the delimitation is as usual: Arthur and Antonia are more sporty-upright, the Emil more urban and nimble, and the Wilhelm family is built as a custom and gravel bike with Pinion, Rohloff or Alfine Di2 technology for other purposes. The female counterpart to Heinrich is Hannah, technically identical but with a swan-neck trapezoid frame and a low step-through. Here the Heinrich is offered exclusively as a diamond frame, in sizes M (48 cm) and L (53 cm).
