Friedrich sets new standards as a classic urban bicycle: maintenance-free carbon toothed belt, Shimano Alfine11-speed hub gear, smoothed weld seams using the ‘flat-welding’ process, lightweight mudguards, high-quality dynamo lighting system and a luggage rack specially manufactured for Schindelhauer with integrated lighting from Supernova.
The minimalist design harmonises perfectly with all components and creates a symbiosis of sporty elegance and touring-friendly features. This is complemented by a relaxed seating position and comfortable frame geometry. Agile and efficient in the city, Friedrich is also the ideal companion for weekend excursions. Thanks to high-quality components and the best workmanship, this bicycle is built to last.

Enable Youtube videosDark green, limited, uncompromising: this Friedrich Limited Edition wears the Pine Green colour for the very first time and is limited to 150 individually numbered bikes. The frame uses Schindelhauer's proven Ludwig design in AL6061-T6 aluminium with triple-butted aero tubes, smoothed welds and an integrated seat post clamp; the wheelbase has been lengthened, which adds calm, stable tracking and at the same time leaves heel room for panniers. The curved aluminium fork runs on a 15 mm through-axle and takes the Shimano Alfine S7000 hydraulic disc brakes (160 mm) with precision. In place of chain oil you get the maintenance-free Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt paired with the mechanical Alfine 11-speed hub gear – eleven gears for traffic lights, headwinds and climbs out of town. A Shutter Precision PD-8X hub dynamo powers the Supernova Pure3 headlight and E3 tail light. Continental GP Urban tyres in 35-622 (28 inch), a Brooks B17 saddle, Curana D-Light mudguards and the Tubus Fly rack complete the build. Useful for bikepacking: side bags fit without heel strikes, mounts for bottle cages, lock and kickstand are provided, and even a child trailer can be attached to the rear axle with a coupling adapter. 13.2 kg in size M, maximum total weight 120 kg.
„Friedrich" is formed from the Old German elements „fridu" (peace) and „rīch" (ruler) – literally the ruler of peace. Schindelhauer deliberately gives its city bikes such traditional first names because they mirror the calm, clear line of the Berlin workshop. The name refers to the bicycle only, never to the company.
Besides this pine green limited edition, the Friedrich XI also comes as a petrol limited edition – same technology, different colour. The Friedrich VIII works with eight instead of eleven gears and weighs 13.2 kg. The women's FRIEDA uses the trapez frame with an Alfine 8-speed hub, the WILHELM range relies on a Pinion centre gear, and the SIEGFRIED stays the lightest choice as a single speed. If you want electric support, the ARTHUR offers the belt-driven option with a Mahle motor.
The bike is built for the daily commute as well as for long weekend rides – stable tracking, lighting and a rear rack come as standard. As frame alternatives, the FRIEDA trapez version offers a lower step-through, while the sportier city frames of the WILHELM range suit a more aggressive position; the matching sister frame within the Friedrich line is the petrol edition.
