"Rift Zone" is the name of the model series – a geology-inspired term that is meant to describe the playful, party-ready riding experience of these trail bikes: riding as if you were in a buzzing zone of pure fun. The "XR" badge stands for "Extra Rad" at Marin. For Marin, this means a particularly powerful, descent-oriented specification with additional reserves for fast, technical and demanding trails. With the XR AXS, this concept is taken to the extreme: the already high-quality XR base is further enhanced with a wireless SRAM GX Eagle AXS drivetrain and additional premium components. And "AXS" refers to SRAM's wireless shifting technology, which does away with cables and cables entirely and shifts via radio signal. The "AXS" abbreviation stands for "Access": quick and easy access to the drivetrain's full performance.
The Marin Rift Zone XR AXS is the most technically advanced and best-equipped aluminium trail bike in the entire Rift Zone family. The base is formed by Marin's Series 3 frame made of 6061 aluminium with the proven MultiTrac rear suspension design and 130 mm of travel. The modern geometry with its slack 65.1° head angle provides plenty of confidence in steep and fast sections, while the bike remains agile enough for tight corners, jumps and technically demanding trails. The 29-inch wheels offer confident rollover behaviour over roots and rocks as well as a calm, stable ride at higher speeds. True to the XR badge ("Extra Rad"), Marin relies on particularly high-quality RockShox components. The RockShox Lyrik Select+ fork offers 150 mm of travel and thus ample reserves for hard impacts and fast descents. At the rear, a specially tuned RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ shock controls the 130 mm MultiTrac rear end and ensures plenty of traction and riding confidence.
The highlight of the XR AXS is the high-end electronic SRAM GX Eagle AXS 12-speed drivetrain. Instead of conventional cables, the shift commands are transmitted wirelessly from the ultra-compact AXS Pod controller on the handlebar to the rear derailleur – for fast, precise gear changes. The SRAM XG-1275 cassette with 10-52 teeth offers an enormous gear range for steep climbs as well as for fast trail sections.
To match the high performance level, Marin fits powerful SRAM Code Bronze 4-piston disc brakes. A large 200 mm rotor up front and a 180 mm rotor at the rear provide strong braking power and good modulation even on long, steep descents. As standard, the XR AXS rolls on wide Maxxis Assegai tyres in 2.5 inches – tubeless-ready. The saddle post also reflects the premium ambitions of the flagship model. The PNW Loam Dropper Post offers a generous range of adjustment and can be operated comfortably from the handlebar via the PNW Range Lever.
The Marin Rift Zone XR AXS is designed for aggressive trail use and stands for everything between relaxed all-mountain tours and ambitious trail descents. The slack geometry, the generous front travel and the grippy tyres make it the perfect partner for technical climbs, rooty singletracks and fast downhill sections. While the series' entry-level models are intended to make it easier for casual riders and beginners to get into trail riding, the XR AXS addresses riders who want to get the maximum out of the Rift Zone concept – with added value in terms of shifting precision, suspension comfort and braking performance.
