The Marin Nicasio+ is our Nic’ with a modern twist, switching in big-volume 47mm rubber, 650b wheels and a sleek and simple 1X drivetrain.
We also specced a microSHIFT 1x9 drivetrain, powerful Tektro mechanical discs and plenty of Marin components. Those WTB Horizon 650Bx47mm tires not only provide a cloud-like ride, but also look super dreamy with tan sidewalls.

Enable Youtube videosThe Marin Nicasio+ 650B is a laid-back reimagination of the storied Nicasio concept. At its core sits a double-butted chromoly frame (Steezy) that showcases why steel remains a fan favorite: pliable, vibration-eating, and remarkably resilient, matched with a no-nonsense steel fork. The real headline, however, is the wheel setup: 650B rims wrapped in plump WTB Horizon 650x47mm tires whose generous air volume blankets rough pavement, loose gravel, and rutted trail alike while offering ample grip. Drivetrain duties are refreshingly uncomplicated – a microSHIFT Advent derailleur with clutch, a single FSA Vero Pro 42T Narrow Wide chainring, and just nine gears built around an 11-46T SunRace cassette that still spans everything from steep granny climbs to brisk flats. Mechanical Tektro MDC400 disc brakes with 160mm rotors provide progressive, dependable stopping in every condition. The frame arrives ready for adventure with a wealth of fender, rack, and bottle bosses, making bikepacking bags and touring setups easy to attach. Factory lighting is deliberately omitted, but the plentiful mounting points allow quick retrofitting of front and rear lights when dusk falls early.
This model's title is a two-part clue. The base word „Nicasio" is the family's birthmark, borrowed from the serene Nicasio Valley in Marin County, California – long a favorite haunt of endurance riders and a quiet symbol of the series' easygoing spirit. The „+" appended at the end, though, is the unexpected twist: it points to the plus-sized tire concept, signaling that this variant has grown beyond the standard formula to offer extra width, extra cushioning, and extra poise. Where siblings flaunt numbers, this bike settles for a humble plus sign – and that little symbol says it all.
The sharpest contrast between the Nicasio+ and the rest of the brood lies in its entire wheel philosophy. While its brothers roll on slender 700C rims, this plus-badged member rides on meaty 650B tires measuring 47mm across – translating into noticeably more suspension, more comfort, and superior purchase on loose terrain. It is also the family's sole representative to run a 1x9 microSHIFT drivetrain with a clutch-equipped rear mech, a single front ring, and a mountainous 11-46T cassette that banishes the front derailleur entirely. Next to the Nicasio 1 (700C with a 2x8 Shimano Claris setup), this model emerges as the comfort-first alternative, while the „2" and „3" pursue increasingly sporty, premium directions. The Nicasio+ is thus the pick for anyone who prizes riding serenity over ever-more gears or featherweight components.
The Marin Nicasio+ 650B is a true all-purpose companion whose battlefield is the everyday, unhurried ride: meandering commutes across rough side streets, weekend excursions down gravel tracks and forest trails, multi-day bikepacking adventures under heavy load, or simple downtown cruising. Its wide, high-volume tires swallow washboard surfaces without complaint and deliver a reassuring, almost cushioned stability on slippery or loose ground. Where its performance-leaning Nicasio siblings celebrate velocity and razor-sharp handling, this model champions ease and forgiveness, letting riders soak up scenery rather than hammer out splits. Loyal, load-capable, and refreshingly low-maintenance thanks to its simple 1x drivetrain and plentiful mounting points, the Nicasio+ is the natural choice for transport, travel, and long, self-sufficient trips.
