The step-thru frame makes the bike easier to mount/dismount, especially when the bike may be loaded with cargo or a child seat. We’ve specced a 2x8-speed Shimano Claris drivetrain, wide WTB rubber, powerful Tektro mechanical discs and plenty of Marin components to ensure a smooth, safe, and FUN ride.

The model name carries layers of meaning: „Nicasio" serves as the umbrella designation for Marin's steel gravel family, inspired by the Nicasio Reservoir in Marin County, California – a fitting nod to the frame's authentic, unpretentious steel character. The number „1" designates this as the entry-level specification within the range, offering the most accessible price point. Finally, „ST" stands for „Step Thru," referencing the lowered top tube frame design that allows riders to step through the bike rather than swing a leg over – a practical feature for riders of all ages and abilities.
Within the Nicasio lineup, the Nicasio 1 ST distinguishes itself primarily through its step-thru frame geometry, setting it apart from the standard diamond-frame Nicasio 1. Compared to the Nicasio+, it features smaller 700C wheels instead of 650b, and a traditional 2x8 Shimano Claris drivetrain rather than the 1x9 microSHIFT Sword Black setup.
