Enable Youtube videosThe Marin Headlands 3 is the undisputed top dog of the Headlands range: a light, stiff Series 3 »Beyond Road» carbon frame paired with a full-carbon fork delivers efficient power transfer while staying comfortable over long distances. Shifting is fully wireless – the electronic SRAM Rival XPLR drivetrain runs a 1x13 layout with 13 gears, backed by the wide-ranging 10-46-tooth cassette. Hydraulic Rival XPLR disc brakes with 160 mm rotors provide dependable stopping power. Lighting is not part of the package; for touring, however, the bike excels thanks to the integrated Bear Box down-tube storage and plenty of mounting points for bottle cages, racks and mudguards. Further highlights: the TranzX dropper post for off-road freedom, a stiff Novatec G24 carbon wheelset and the UDH hanger for maximum compatibility.
The model borrows its name from the ridge between the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate: the Marin Headlands has long been regarded as hallowed ground of the American gravel scene since the genre's early days. The reference says it all – a bike that does not shy away from nature's ruggedness but makes room for pure riding pleasure.
»Headlands« is the series name, alluding to the coastal landscape by the Californian bay. The figure »3« denotes the highest and technically most demanding specification level within the family. »Green» or »Green Fade» describes the paint fade tone.
As the only member of the family, the Headlands 3 shifts wirelessly: a SRAM Rival XPLR in a 1x13 setup delivers 13 gears, complemented by hydraulic Rival brakes and a stiff, lightweight Novatec G24 carbon wheelset. Dropper and Bear Box are on board as well – no other model of the range is equipped as lavishly.
This bike is made for everyone who wants to push the Headlands platform to its limits: quick switches between tarmac, trail and gravel, maximum range thanks to the 13 gears and comfort through the dropping seatpost. While the Headlands 1 and 2 cover touring and everyday use, the Headlands 3 answers the question of speed and technical perfection – and with its many mounting points it is at the same time the ideal companion for long gravel rides and expeditions.
With multiple mounting points for bottles and accessories, the Headlands 3 is ready for extended gravel rides and adventures. Wide tubeless-ready tires ensure excellent grip and comfort across all types of terrain.
A standout feature is the integrated “Bear Box” frame storage. It provides convenient space for tools, spares, or essentials – perfect for long rides and bikepacking without the need for extra bags.
