Enable Youtube videosWe’ve taken our own unidirectional carbon fiber frame, added mountain bike-inspired geometry, loads of tire clearance and a whole heap of mounting points for gear and fenders to create a super versatile, super capable all-terrain dart of a bike. Go 700c with room for up to 45mm tires or 650b up to 47mm.
The 1x specific construction of the frame means short chainstays that still fit up to 700x45mm/650Bx47mm tires, and paired with the longer top tube and shorter stems the bike takes cues from modern mountain bikes on technical off-road trail, while stillmaintaining a comfortable, fast, and efficient ride on flatter terrain. Internal housing routing and tons of mounts on the frame allows you to fit the bike with anything from water and tubes, to a full custom frame bag from your favorite maker using the attachments found around the front triangle, while conventional rack and fender mounts can transition the bike into a capable winter commuter.
The bike is named after the Marin Headlands, the rugged hilly landscape shielding San Francisco's northern shore and counted among the most iconic gravel playgrounds of the American West. Everything that terrain stands for – exposed trails, endless dirt roads and spectacular views across the Golden Gate – is meant to translate directly into the ride.
“Headlands" pays tribute to the coastal area just described – that is all there is to it. The numeral “1" marks this build as the most accessible member of the line-up. And “Silver Red" refers to the paint scheme, blending a silver frame with red detailing.
Riders shift through eleven gears here, courtesy of a mechanical GRX 1x11 drivetrain – two fewer than the middle tier and three fewer than the flagship. A dropper post and in-frame storage are noticeably absent as well, while stopping power comes from hydraulic GRX brakes.
The Headlands 1 is aimed at anyone about to take their first proper step into gravel riding: mountain-bike-inspired geometry, 44 mm tyres and a generous spread of mounts for mudguards and luggage make light work of dirt tracks and long rides alike. Unlike its technically upgraded siblings, the entry model champions simplicity and durability over pure racing performance.
